I have everything crossed for England!

We are about 15 minutes away from the kick off of England vs Algeria which is a crucial game for the Englishmen as Slovenia who drew 2 – 2 with the USA are topping the group with four points. England currently have one point from their 1 – 1 draw with USA in the opening round of games so a win is essential if they are to make it through to the group stages. On paper, England are a much better team than Algeria but in this world cup I am taking nothing for granted. In a world cup where Switzerland can beat European champions Spain and Serbia can beat Germany. This is likely to be a world cup of big name casualties, I am just hoping that England are not one of those names. Robert Green has paid the ultimate price for his goalkeeping error that allowed the USA to steal points away from the Englishmen. David James will replace Green between the sticks for game against Algeria. Jamie Carragher and Gareth Barry also make it into the starting line-up at the expense of Ledley King and James Milner. Back to the USA game against Slovenia; the USA deserved to win the game after a piss-poor first half, the Americans played brilliantly in the second half to pull two goals back and scored a winner that was disallowed by an inexperienced referee. The referee disallowed the USA’s third goal for an unknown reason, the only thing wrong I could see was Michael Bradley being held back by a Slovenian player, it should have been a penalty or the goal should have stood; bad officiating from Mr. Coulibaly, if FIFA have any sense we will not see the Malian official again this world cup, FIFA can not allow such bad officiating!

I have been asked in for an interview with a company near the Wichita airport in regards to an network administrator position that I applied for; to be honest I don’t remember applying for the position but I have applied for 50+ jobs in the last few months it’s hard to remember specific jobs I applied for. But I am happy to have gotten an interview even if it’s an informal interview. It is an entry level position and I’m fine with that as it’d be good to work with someone else as I haven’t worked actively in network administrator for quite a few years, I’m sure it’ll all come flooding back to me once I start working hands on with networks again; it’s not something you tend to forget!

It’s now 4pm and the game is over and the result; the #7 ranked team, England were held to a scoreless draw with #29 ranked team Algeria. Two words sum up the England performance; PISS POOR, Capello’s XI gave the ball away too easily, attacking moves breaking down because of poor passing, not to mention not being able to hit a barn door at six yards. Amazingly England could still top the group if they beat Slovenia next Wednesday if the USA draws or loses to Algeria; If the USA beat Algeria and England beat Slovenia, both the USA and England will progress and who tops the group will decided on goals difference then goals scored, right now the USA have that advantage! Frankly based upon their performance in their first two games; England don’t deserve to progress in the final 16 as for a bunch of world renowned players, it’s unacceptable to play that poorly. John Terry, Frank Lampard; Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, names known around the globe for their playing abilities, yet this world cup they have looked like a bunch of amateurs. No leadership, no direction and that has resulted in one goal in two games in an relatively easy group! Capello needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat for the next game; Slovenia will be no walk over as they showed against the USA! It’s time to take up a region and start praying to the football Gods!!!

Oh yes and Cox Communications’ internet connection has gone down for the umpteenth time and has been down for almost three hours; the connection went down shortly after posting this blog entry at 2:15pm, I am writing this using my cell phone’s dial up connection. Cox really are shockingly bad, I would love to cancel but the only other option for TV is satellite which isn’t a possibility as we live in an apartment complex that doesn’t allow for satellite dishes!!!
