England got off to a great start in the second Ashes test. At one point the score line read 2 runs for 3 wickets before Watson and Hussey steadied the ship adding 94 to the tally. Hussey went on to score 93 runs, just seven short of another century before being caught by Collingwood; Hussey really has been the Australian player of the series for me. Katich was run out without facing a single delivery, if being dismissed for zero runs on your first delivery is a golden duck, what do you call getting out before facing a delivery? The Australian captain Ricky Ponting also went for a duck and Clark went for a lowly two runs. After Hussey’s wicket fell it was only a matter of time before Australia were bowled out, the Australian’s could only muster a further 38 runs after Hussey’s dismissal, Australia were all out for 245, an even worse first innings score than England achieved in the first test. England finished day one 1 run for no loss of wicket, lets hope that England can build a decent score, a century from the top three would be nice, although that’s being hopeful, it was over ninety years ago the last time the top three batsmen scored a century.
Plymouth Argyle’s game with MK Dons was postponed because of a frozen pitch. But the Pilgrims problems continue, because of the winding up order, the clubs bank accounts have been frozen just like the Stadium:MK pitch. Which means that the clubs staff and players have not been paid and Plymouth are facing a $15,000 bill for policing the upcoming game against Exeter city after violence at the last fixture between the two teams. It’s not looking good for the future of Plymouth Argyle football club, so much for the new investors and owners taking the club forward!
Last night I picked up a deal of the year, an Insignia wireless network Blu-ray player for $100, although they attempted to charge me $130 for it. But I wasn’t having it because it was marked as $100 on display and under US law they have to honour the price advertised. It pays to know your consumer rights. Basically it is worth $130 which I didn’t realise at the time, I thought it was “wireless ready” which requires an additional purchase of the wireless dongle. So I thought that they were just trying to screw me but even with the bargain I got, the attitude of one of the store supervisors was atrocious; he said “normally I wouldn’t do this but I can’t be bothered tonight” – great attitude to have in front of a customer, Best Buy need to look at the quality of staff they are hiring. But I have come to expect crappy service here in Kansas, I have never experienced such bad customer service, why should I expect any different from a national chain?
