My name is Jason Lewis, I am an Englishman, from Plymouth, United Kingdom now residing in Wichita, KS, United States with my American wife, Erin and children Conner and Alya. I work for a property management company here in Wichita as an Internet Marketing Specialist, which involves everything from website design to search engine marketing and real estate marketing to property photography.
I came to live in the United States because of Myspace, remember that? I got home from work at a local live music venue back home in Plymouth, where I worked as a live sound technician, at about 2am to find a message waiting for me on Myspace, to which I replied. My future wife and I replied back and forth for a couple of days before I asked for her phone number. We talked on the phone for a couple of weeks before starting to use Skype and after about 12 months, I decided to visit Kansas and never went back to the UK, that was 6 1/2 years ago, we recently celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary in January 2015.
This blog itself came about many years ago under the domain name technostorm.co.uk, which I got free from the IT company that I worked for from 2001 to 2003. I didn’t know what to do with the domain/hosting when it was suggested that I should start a blog. I immediately blew off the idea as I never thought I would have anything to write about, man, was I wrong, 12 years later I am still blogging.
In 2004; this blog migrated to a new host and domain name because the aforementioned IT company, after making me redundant, tried to charge me a large fee to release the technostorm.co.uk domain name, which I know was free and as easy sending an encrypted Email to Nominet (the body that oversees .uk domains). So instead I registered myblog-online.co.uk and despite relocating to a whole different continent and moving web hosts half dozen times is where my blog still lives on the Internet today.
I blog about everything, from sports, including football (soccer, for my American friends) and Formula 1 to politics, news reaction to personal events to reviews of products I own and more. I don’t like to pigeon hole myself, I write about whatever I find interesting or irks me at the time of writing, which tends to be politics. The way that the people we elect are not representing our interests, instead representing their own bottom line and the interests of corporations, which they’re charged with regulating. Anyway I digress, you could say that US politics is my soapbox issue since moving to the USA.
My interests include technology, photography, website development, cars and live music. I would dearly love to get back into live sound engineering, so much so that I would do it for free, it’s a passion I used to get paid to indulge, but now I live in Kansas, the scope for live sound work is very limited to say the least.
I least I get to indulge my second passion of photography in my work, I love the challenge of taking a product, (e.g. apartments, houses) and making them look good in photographs and marketing materials to entice potential residents to contact the property management company I work for. Although my first photographic love is outdoor photography, wildlife and scenery; it’s just a shame that I live in possibly the most dull state in the country, but I do make the best of it, visiting wildlife parks and zoos regularly.
Thanks for reading, I hope that you find my ramblings interesting and entertaining!
