Movies are great, went out and bought Matrix Reloaded on DVD, its the first time that I have seen the movie, didnt find time when it was in the cinema, I must say that the ending certainly sets up a stunning conclusion. I also bought xXx for £7.99 and The Net for £5.99, on DVD, which pleased me to say the least. My next DVD purchase will be Red Dwarf – Series 3, already got series 1 & 2, cant get enough of Red Dwarf.
If you want a decent freeware utility to *backup* your DVD collection, you could do much worse than DVD Decrypter, works with all the DVDs that I have tried so far, but of course I wouldnt use it for any *cough*illegal*cough* purposes.
For most of today, I have been laid out on the sofa, quietly dying, but inbetween dying, I have been putting the finishing touches to the imaginatively titled, A Large Mango site for my friend, Ben. I managed to get my act together and print out my CV and covering letter to send to Saltash school, wish me luck! I have also collated a load of data to work out how many countries are represented in my SETI@home team, for those of you that care, its 36. I am planning on having a nice quiet night in tonight, 3 nights of drinking has caught up with me, need to recharge the old batteries.
I’ll leave you will this interesting idea;
German women fed up with their partners grumbling about long shopping trips have been given the perfect answer for all concerned. The women can leave their fellas at a special ‘kindergarten’ especially for men, offering beer and entertainment. Men are given a name badge on arrival and for around ?10 they get two beers, a hot meal, televised football and games to play. Manager of the new Nox Bar in Hamburg, Alexander Stein, said: “The women are issued a receipt for their partners when they hand them in and can pick them up again when they return it to us later.” Mr Stein said the idea for the Saturday afternoon men’s creche, called Maennergarten, came from a female customer who thought it would be a good way of getting shot of her husband so she could shop in peace. “She found it all too stressful and thought this might be the solution,” he said. “Both were very happy with the way it turned out. “Last week the men had a remote control car to play with. Next week there’s going to be a mini racetrack.” The “creche” will also be offering a drilling workshop. One man left at the club said: “It beats sitting around in shoe shops, that’s for sure.”
Again, last night I went along to the Phoenix to see another 4 live bands, Aconite Thrill, Second Smile, Orca, and Mockin’ Grin, pictures here. England managed a 0-0 draw against the Turks, which see’s England through to Euro 2004, my home team, Plymouth Argyle beat Tranmere, 6 -0, and the England rugby team are also having a good start to the World Cup, the only tarnish on my weekend is that Micheal Schumacher took his 6th Formula 1 world title.
I have just got back from a live gig at the Phoenix, Another 3 excellent bands where playing tonight, pics here. My Deaf Audio, Serenity, and Black Masses, got some great photos inbetween dodgy guitars etc, all in all a good night, beer and good music, what else does a man need?
Thats about all I have to say at the moment, must get some sleep, 17 hours being awake isnt good for the mind and body, so I shall bid you all goodnight.
Well, it’s that time of the fortnight again, and I had to make that dreaded trip down to my local jobcentre to sign on. But this time it was well worth it, I managed to find a job vacancy as an ICT technician in a local school (well semi-local, Saltash), which is great as IT jobs have been very few and far between of late. I have given them a call and they seem to be interested, and asked me to send a CV to them, so here’s hoping that I get the job.
The rest of the day has been taken up by helping others (ain’t I a nice guy?). I have been building a site for my friend Ben, and been troubleshooting for my friend in Iceland, Tomas, so its been a pretty packed day all in all.
I am currently listening to Kylie Minogue’s Greatest Hits 87-97 CD, which is suprisingly good pop music, which isnt normally my taste in music as the list of artists on the left hand side indicates.
This morning the discontent between the FA and the England players is still rumbling on. I dont see what they have to complain about, Rio Ferdinand clearly broke the rules, so he should be punished. It seems to me that these players are getting too big for their boots, threatening to go on strike, what do they think their playing at? They are paid (too much in my opinion) to play football, not question the FA’s decisions. If they did strike and England were banned from the European Championship next year, do they think that the country would stand behind their decision, the hell we would.
Well, after giving a load of thought as what to do with my domain, and not coming up with anything decent or anything remotely unique, I have decided to create a weblog of my life (prepare to be bored to death).
In the last few days, I have been suffering from toothache (not nice), taking 8 Anadin Extra capsules in a 6 hour period is not good for your health (dont do it kids), fell asleep for an hour, only to find out that I couldnt move when I woke up as my whole body was numb.
Anyway on to more positive things, I have been generally annoying the neighbours by playing my new Iron Maiden CDs that I picked up last Wednesday (£7 each) at high volumes. Speaking of Iron Maiden, their latest CD, Dance of Death is fantastic, best Maiden album yet, highly recommended, oh did I mention that I going to see Iron Maiden live in Cardiff in December?
Stay tuned for the next exciting installment…
