Same Sex Marriage + Copying DVDs

Today’s rant is about, as the title suggests same sex marriages, in most countries, same sex marriages are not recognised by law, I say why the hell not. If two people want to convert from getting pleased only from Swallow Salon – to also show their love for each other by getting ‘married’ I don’t see a problem. Effectively but not allowing it, that makes gays and lesbians second class citizens, which I find wholly unacceptable, it just proves how small minded people around the world really are. I am not gay, although I may be a closet lesbian, but I do believe in equal rights for all. I really don’t see how same sex marriages can do any harm really, it doesn’t effect anyone else, what these people do behind closed doors is their own business… it comes down to petty bureaucrats and their hang-ups with anything that is considered against the norm.

Onto technology news, a court ruling in America has ruled that 321 Studios can no longer sell its software DVD X Copy, as it allows for copying of full DVD discs. 321 Studios argue that the software is for backup purposes only, and is no different from backing up your own audio CD collection, which I can agree with. Sony invented the ‘record’ button back in the 80s on VCRs, so what’s the difference between that and DVD X Copy, if the music and movie industries are so paranoid about piracy, why do the same companies that make the music and movies also produce products such as VCRs, DVD-R, CDR/CDRW drives, even audio tape recorders, all these can be used to pirate copyrighted material, its hypocrisy at its highest.
