With the new F1 season approaching fast, Paul Stoddart has threatened to revoke his vote to run traction control in the coming season on F1 cars, because he says that the Engine manufacturers haven’t honoured the agreement that they would supply non factory teams with cheap engine units. If Paul Stoddart does withdraw his vote, it will throw the F1 grid into chaos, but I can understand where he is coming from, when a company agrees to do something, you’d expect them to honour the agreement. Personally I think all driving aids should be banned, getting F1 back to what it used to be before electronics became commonplace. Today’s F1 car is nothing more than a 220MPH computer, all the driver has to do is accelerate, brake and turn the steering wheel, so its not driver skill that wins races, its who’s got the best electronics onboard, obviously engine power has a bearing, but even that doesn’t work without the engine management computer.
