And today’s update is dominated by!

Football, what else can it be, considering it is the last day of the league season, except for play-offs and the FA Cup final of course. And Plymouth Argyle have won again to make the perfect end to the season, beating Colchester 2 – 0 at Home Park with goals from David Friio and David Norris, although the day was soured a bit by David Friio’s sending off for a professional foul. QPR have cemented their second spot in the league and final automatic promotion spot by beating Sheffield Wednesday 3 – 1 away at Hillsborough, Rangers finished 7 points behind the Pilgrims in the second division. Bristol City did get the required win today beating Blackpool 2 – 1 at home, but they were relying on QPR losing or drawing their match with Sheffield Wednesday, so Bristol will now go into the play-offs with Brighton, Swindon Town, and Hartlepool. It’s also good news for Torquay United as they managed a superb 2 – 1 win away at Southend to secure the third and final automatic promotion spot in the third division, so they will be playing second division football next season.

In F1 news, Michael Schumacher (boo, hiss), has claimed yet another pole position (yawn) with Juan Pablo Montoya 6/10 tenths of a second behind, followed by Takuma Sato a further 1 1/2 tenths of a second behind. But sadly not such a good day for the Brits on the grid with David Couthard qualifying 10th but did out-qualify his team mate Kimi Raikonnen who finished in 13th just ahead of Jenson Button in 14th, who made a expensive mistake on his flying lap, which is a shame as the car obvious has the pace considering where his team mate Takuma Sato is on the grid, oh well, lets hope Jenson gets off to a flyer in tomorrows race. Now this is how I would like to see the race going, Schumacher and Montoya take each other out at the first corner, Sato slips through into first position, then slows the whole field up to let Button catch up, and take the win with Sato finishing second. Far fetched you say? Well to quote the great Murray Walker “in formula one, anything can happen, and it usually does”.
