Wayne Rooney will be hitting the headlines again tomorrow after another sparkling display on the pitch scoring two brilliant goals in England’s 4 – 2 win over Croatia. Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard scored the remaining two goals, but the good news is that Michael Owen played a lot better, and with a goal under his belt, I think he would be back to his best as I think his anonymity on the pitch has been more to do with confidence than anything.. France topped the group after the Swiss team crumbled in the second half to lose 3 – 1, so France top the group with 7 points and England follow with 6 points, Croatia and Switzerland go home. So next game for England will be on Thursday against Portugal, we don’t want a repeat of the world cup in 1998 do we! c’mon England!!!
But as a side effect of France topping the group, I will have to miss a brilliant gig at the Phoenix to watch the England/Portugal match, if France lost or drew the match; England would have topped the group and would have played Greece on Friday instead. But I am just happy that England got through the group stages after the dodgy start against France. Hopefully the Portugal match wont be such an emotional rollercoaster, but this is England we are talking about, so heartbreak or jubilation is only a minute away. Anyway, England are the best team in the tournament on paper at the moment, scoring more goals than any other team, and that man, Wayne Rooney is the top scorer, more of the same please!!!!
Oh and I almost forgot I have joined the digital television revolution, now I have 30 channels and still nothing on TV to watch, but at least the picture quality is much better, DVD quality in fact. I am a little miffed about E4 being subscription only on DVB Terrestrial, oh well, at least I can take full advantage of my 32″ widescreen TV now, and perfect reception of all the major radio stations, just need a 5 metre interconnect cable to connect the box to my hi-fi separates system.
