The time has come…

!for me to fill you in about the week that was. I have been going to Working Links all week as you’ll know from Monday’s update, things have moved along a bit since then, I have signed up with a few employment agencies, although some that I visited were very snobbish, just because I didn’t go in wearing a suit, they pretty much turned their nose up at me, so they can go fuck themselves, but on the whole the agencies were a friendly enough bunch. Sent a few CV’s off to them, just waiting for an appointment to see them now. I have also applied for a job as a web designer/search engine officer, which is just a fancy name for what I used to do before, although previously my title sounded grander, “Search Engine Optimisation Specialist, Team Leader”, but that’s in the past now. I am really hopeful of getting this job, as there can’t be that many experiences SEO’s in the Plymouth area, fingers crossed on that one. Generally I am feeling a lot more positive about life and myself in general after the first week of this course, it was good to get into a structured routine again and meet new people, which is always a good thing in my opinion.

Tuesday night I went out to the Phoenix to see Reuben, and the support bands of course, and what a night that was, sold out by 8:30, that has never happened before, but its good to see the Phoenix packed out to capacity so early, its great for the bands, great for the atmosphere and great for the nights takings as well, a good night had by all I think, despite me not touch a drop of alcohol! Thursday night was another story, almost dead in the Phoenix, although the bands didn’t have the pull of Reuben, Orca and The 24/7 Blueprint. I really didn’t want to be there at all, I only went over because I was bored, but I was just as bored over there, and having no money didn’t help matter either, I felt dehydrated, and generally not feeling too good in myself, I left at 10:30, got the pictures of the bands and got out of there as soon as possible, to go home, and get some sleep!

On Wednesday night I see that the English football team managed to beat the Ukraine 3 – 0, and so we should, as on paper at least we are a superior team. But what grabbed my attention is that David Beckham and Michael Owen supposedly answered their critics by scoring goals. I think that’s a load of bollocks, their goals mean nothing as it was only a friendly against an inferior team, they will only answer their critics when they can pull it out of the bag in the games that matter and the big tournaments, that’s when I will believe they are worthy of a place in the England team, it’s a privilege, not a right, although with a manager that sticks with players that are clearly not fit or playing well, it might as well be the other way around! My disillusionment with the England team is pretty high at the moment, things need to change from the top down, the F.A. is as much to blame as anyone, get rid of the coach, and make the players earn their place in the national team!!!

Finally, in technology news, the music and movie industry in America have been shot down in flames over the Peer-2-Peer software companies. The media industries were seeking damages from these firms for copyright infringement. But the judge ruled in favour of the P-2-P companies, stating that it could not be held responsible for what the users do with the technology, making comparisons to old cases about video recorders, and the judge said “History has shown that time and market forces often provide equilibrium in balancing interests, whether the new technology be a player piano, a copier, a tape recorder, a video recorder, a personal computer, a karaoke machine, or an MP3 player.” Its about time that the courts ruled in favour of the little guy and show these massive music and film companies that they cant have it all their own way, reduce the prices of music and video in the shops and people wont pirate music and video so much, it wont stop it, but it will be reduced and sales with go up, the answer seems clear to me!
