It’s been a long week of gigs at the Phoenix for me to cover, seven gigs in seven nights, so I am really tired and little deafer than I was previously, although it was a generally decent week’s worth of music with a few exceptions. I was going to have a rest tonight, but it seems that I am now going over to Phil and Simon’s house for a game a drunken monopoly that could be interesting to say the least.
I also have a job interview with Royal Mail as a Manual Data Entry Centre Operator to give the job its full title, on Wednesday, assuming that I pass the aptitude test, obviously to weed out the people that are not suitable as the job required reasonable typing skills, although I think I should be able to pass that easy enough as I have been using computers for some time now and my typing is reasonably fast. It’s not the most exciting or glamorous job, but it pays well and the atmosphere is reasonably relaxed. I am hoping to either get the 6am – 2pm shift or negotiate a midnight – 6am overnight shift, so I can carry on with Phoenix Live, although I will need to seriously cut down on my drinking.
In the last 24 hours I have been going nuts watching the TX and RX lights on my cable modem intermittently flashing, which means no Internet connection for me, which really annoyed the hell of me, as I couldn’t update any of my websites, and I have no backup dialup account to fall back on. It’s amazing how reliant people have become on the Internet these days, including myself, most things are done over the internet these days, simply because its incredibly convenient. I hope that this isn’t going to be a regular outage at Blueyonder, although I cant complain, it’s only the 3rd outage in 2 years, and this was the longest by far, been off since midday on Sunday, and came back about 1pm today. As a side effect, I actually turned my machine off, which doesnt happen very often, as it was sat idle, as I couldnt get any new Cancer project units, and of course, no-one could reach my webserver or ftp server, I hate the idea of all those wasted clock cycles!
In sports, finally something to cheer about from Plymouth Argyle, when they beat former manager, Paul Sturrock’s premiership club, Southhampton 3 – 1 at Home Park, lets hope that the Pilgrims can take that sort of form into the Championship this season, although it was the old guard at Argyle, Mickey Evans, Graham Coughlan, and Steven Milne that scored the goals, no sign of the new players that Williamson signed over the summer.
