Yesterday I found out that was being evicted from my home, after living there for 6 years. The landlord was found dead in the Plym estuary about 4 weeks ago, although yesterday was the first that I had heard of it. His brother who has now taken over the estate is selling all of the houses that the landlord owned, hence evicting all the tenants. My big problem is the deposit required (which is usually one months rent in advance, plus one months rent as deposit) and rent rates on another flat, I only pay £220 PCM for this flat, many others require £400 PCM, which is a huge hike considering that only earn £550 take home per month. I am going to go to the council about re-housing me, but I don’t see them giving me a decent flat as I am able to pay for my own private housing, I would be dumped in a bedsit with a load of rogues, and that’s something that I am not willing to do, especially with the thousands of pounds worth of electronics I have, at last count, it was almost £10,000 worth (when you include CDs, DVDs, and Games). I really feel like every time I start to get my life back on track, I get kicked back down again, last time I reached this stage I was tempted to commit suicide, but I am more stubborn now, and have a good group of friends around me. So I think the only way to afford the rent on a new flat would be to share with a friend, which is a possibility, as someone else I know is looking for a flat, then it’s only £200 PCM each, and everything else split down the middle!
