It seems that George ‘Dubya’ Bush is going be in the whitehouse for another 4 years. The big question is why? He has managed to piss off half the world, with the exception of the Bush’s lap dog, Tony Blair, over the Iraq situation, not to mention going against the UN resolutions, and effectively going to war illegally, while I am on the subject, if it was indeed an illegal war, why isn’t Bush and Blair being charged with war crimes? Add that to his general inability to actually say something that makes sense, anyone else think that his speeches are written for him? I reckon if the US didn’t have the 8-year rule on how long a president can serve, I reckon that Bill Clinton would still be president, as he is by far the best US president in recent times. I see this as a bad omen, for next years UK elections, hopefully the British people will have enough sense to get rid of Labour, oh sorry, NEW Labour, and Tony ‘lapdog’ Blair; vote for the Raving Loony Party, they talk more sense than the big three parties. One day I may have something nice to say about politics ;)
In more positive news, David Couthard could be a Williams driver next season, but lets not count our chickens before they hatch. David has reportedly visited the Williams factory to discuss a drive for next year; of course this is only a rumour at the moment, but I for one hope that it’s true. It would be interesting to see if he has really lost the passion to drive, and new team could be exactly what he needs, he’ll need to be at his best to beat Mark Webber. Also in Formula One, it is reckoned that the Nigel Mansell fronted Brand Synergy consortium is interested in buying Jaguar Racing, whether it will be a good thing or not remains to be seen, Brand Synergy seem to be desperate to buy into Formula One, firstly with Silverstone, now Jaguar, I shall just wait and see what happens next, either way, if Jaguar are to be on next years grid, they need to get their entry in before November 15th.
In rallying, Citroen and Peugeot have decided to pull out the World Rally Championship at the end of 2005. This is due to the economic climate at the moment, basically they are not shifting enough cars to make the rally team worthwhile, despite winning 3 drivers titles and 5 constructors titles between them in the last 5 years. Colin McRae has tested the new Skoda rally car in recent weeks, and it is rumoured that he will be driving that car in next seasons championship, but he has said that he hasn’t decided whether he wants to revive his WRC career, and concentrate on Paris-Daker rally style events instead. Personally I would like to see him back in WRC, but only he can make that decision!
