Today has been another one of those spending days, this time I have invested in some curtains (or drapes, if you are reading this in America), a 9 piece set of pots and pans, 24 piece cutlery set, a 20 piece crockery set (that’s plates, saucers, cups and mugs to you). Actually this is the first time that I have actually bought anything like this, all the stuff I had in the last flat was inherited from my mother and other family members, but was old and had seen better days, so I decided to get all new stuff, and for a change it all matches, at least until I break some, and have to replace it. Other than that, the day has been uneventful, had the day off work, so decided to have a lay in until midday when I decided that I should get my arse in gear and do something productive, which ended in making a significant dent in my wallet, but its good to spend money, retail therapy really does work, although the feeling is much better when spending someone else’s money, maybe I should look for a rich mistress? OK, maybe not, but here’s hoping ;)
Just read that the game at Home Park against Everton in the third round of the FA Cup is to be televised live on BBC TV, which is brilliant news for both clubs as each will receive £150,000 from the FA broadcast fund, and also be good exposure for Argyle. Let’s just hope that they can put on a good show and beat the Merseyside based team, but I wont be holding my breath, I would love to see the game personally at Home Park, but it’s safe to say that I will be working on the day, but hopefully I can get the early shift on the day of the match, so I will finish at 4pm, which will give me hour and half to get my arse up to Home Park for the 5:30pm kick-off! If not, I’ll just have to watch it on TV, although I will miss the first 20 minutes of the game, because of the walk home!
I have also just read that Andy Bell, front man of electronic pop duo, Erasure has been diagnosed as HIV positive, it was announced that he was diagnosed back in 1998. But he refuses to lie down and give up saying “Being HIV does not mean that you have Aids. My life expectancy should be the same as anyone else’s so there is no need to panic.” Which is amazing, as if it happened to me, I would be devastated. I cant help feeling that although tragic news, it will also act as great publicity for Erasures new album, and forthcoming tour, also the forthcoming book written by Bell’s partner, Paul Hickey.
