Leeds United has beaten Plymouth Argyle for the second time this season, this time at Elland Road. Leeds were very fortunately to take the lead, just after the half-time interval. Peter Gilbert was the unlucky Argyle player that deflected a David Healy cross past Plymouth keeper, Romain Larrieu. Argyle had chances to equalise, but the dogged Leeds defence resisted the pressure. David Healy sealed the win for Leeds in the 90th minute, Stevie Crawford grabbed a consolation goal in the dying moments of the game, but a loss is a loss, regardless of how many goals your team scores, if the other team scores more. I am disappointed of course, but I can’t say that it was unexpected as Argyle don’t seem to be able to string two victories together lately, much to my frustration. Bobby Williamson blamed the referee for the second Leeds goal, but ultimately, something needs to be done within the team, as something is obviously wrong as they have absolutely no consistency, and without that, the team is going to struggle in the Championship. I really do hope that Williamson can turn things around in the second half of the season, let’s see what happens on Saturday away at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Argyle badly need to win the next two games, if they are to stand a chance against Everton in the FA on the 8th January.
Oh, and even more depressing, it’s back to work for me tomorrow, although only for three days, then I am off again for another two days. The four days off seem to have gone past all too quickly, I wish the normal working week would go that quickly!
