Today has been one of the worst working days I have had since joining Derrys back in August 2004. Nothing really to do with work, more to do with a feeling within myself. For most of the day I have been suffering from a strained back, I must have slept awkward last night as I had it from the moment I woke up. But went to work anyway, later in the day, I had an extreme feeling of fatigue which only made the bad back feel even worst. By the time it was time to go home, I was just about ready to collapse on the floor where I stood. I really think that this weeks holiday I have coming next week is needed desperately, time to relax and recharge. Even now I feel really tense and have extreme pain in my back when I move in a certain way, and its not a nice feeling, you can trust me on that one. At least I get the day off work tomorrow, so hopefully my back will sort itself out in the next 36 hours, as work isn’t pleasant when every time I try to lift something cases pain. But at least it will be only three more days’ work before my week’s holiday, I can’t wait for this week to be over!
In Formula One, I have just read that David Couthard had to take a huge pay drop to drive for Red Bull Racing. He is given a modest salary as standard and has to pay his own costs. But what he does get is £25,000 for every point he scores for the team (and himself), so that means that his 4th place in Melbourne netted him £125,000, gaining 5 points for the team. David is very determined to score more points for RBR, and what a great incentive to drive the wheels off the car, nothing like money as motive to drive well and score points. I am surprised more teams hasn’t adopted these tactics, paying a ‘minimum’ wage to the driver, and paying for points scored, instead of drivers like Michael Schumacher who is being paid a small fortune by Ferrari, and is rumoured to get paid $1,000,000 if he wins a race. I would really love to see DC win a race this season, just to shut up his doubters, I really think that this move has reignited his fire and passion to compete and win races, he knows that it wont be easy, but things are looking good for podiums this season!
Oh, and on a happier note, it’s my good friend Tomas‘ birthday, he’s 37 years young today… pop over to his blog and wish the old git a happy birthday… ;)
