Let’s start with the good news!

Ferrari failed to win again in the second Formula One race of the season in Malaysia, the best Ferrari, which was driven by Michael Schumacher was 7th, so only a total of 10 points for the Maranello based team in the first two races. Things are still going well for new boys on the block, Red Bull Racing with David Couthard finishing in 6th and Klien claiming the final point in 8th position. Toyota grabbed their first ever podium finish with Jarno Trulli bringing the car home in 2nd position, followed by the Williams of Nick Heidfeld, after team mate Mark Webber tripped over Melbourne winner, Giancarlo Fisichella 20 laps from the end. The other Toyota of Ralf Shumacher finished in 5th place, 20 seconds ahead of Couthard. So it seems that the big names are getting a hammering in the early part of the season, and it’s great to see as well, and I am really happy that RBR and DC are doing well in their first season of competition. The BAR’s of Jenson Button and Anthony Davidson didn’t manage to get past lap 3 suffering engine failures, despite having new engines for this race, and Jenson was very outspoken on the reliability of the Honda engine, and isn’t optimistic that it will be fixed any time soon, and I can really understand his frustrations, as these problems have been ongoing since testing started earlier this year!

In not so good news, Plymouth Argyle have slumped to another away defeat at The Den. This time the result was 3 – 0 in favour of the home team. It really seems that Argyle need to strengthen their defence and midfield as the current crop of players aren’t cutting the mustard, at least not away from home. Plymouth drop two places in the table to 18th, so the rest of the season will be a battle for their Championship lives, so home wins are all the more important than ever now, starting with the home game against Cardiff City!

In my own life, yesterday was quite a good day, it was really warm for a change, so me and friend decided to take a walk over to Mount Edgecumbe, but due to the fact that we had missed the ferry by minutes and the next one wasn’t for another hour, we decided to take a wander up to Plymouth Hoe and dropped off in a waterside drinking establishment, before grabbing some thoroughly unhealthy greasy sausage and chips down at the Barbican. Later in the day, I went along to the Phoenix for the Loggerball, a private birthday bash for two members of a local band, Loggerhead, plus a couple of local bands were performing, and of course I had to grab some pictures of the night. Although this had an unfortunate side effect as my ‘monkey’ antics, climbing on whatever was available to get the best pictures, resulted in me pulling a muscle in my back, which is causing me pain even now, twenty-four hours later, so I elected to miss the all day charity event today to give my back time to recover before work tomorrow. Speaking of work, the guys I work with said that “it will go all too quickly” and they were right, it doesn’t seem like I have been off work for a week, feels more like three or four days, and not the eight whole days it actually was!
