As mentioned in my previous entry, I did the sound at the Phoenix last night, and much to my surprise the bands wanted to get the best sound out front, so worked with me. So I managed to get the sound pretty good, I was happy enough with it anyway, not perfect, but getting the perfect sound is pretty hard in a venue with strange acoustics as the Phoenix. Didn’t have many problems with feedback, only when testing the limits of how far I could push the vocals without feeding back, but none in set. Afterwards I went off to Voodoo Lounge to find that there was less than a dozen people in the club upstairs, but since I had paid to get in, I was going to stay and have a couple of drinks. The music wasn’t half bad tonight either, none of the usual shit they play inbetween the rock, metal and punk. Things did start to warm up after 1am, when another dozen or so people wandered in. But the weird thing about the night was some random guy coming up to me and asking, “are you about to kill everyone here?” which seemed like an old way to start a conversation. He was obviously very inebriated, and tried to get me to dance as I was sat on my own, mainly because I didn’t know anyone there and I only wanted a quiet drink before going home.
Anyway, that concludes yesterdays event, tune in for the next exciting instalment!
