Its day five!

First update since Mr Þráinsson arrived from Iceland via Dudley near Birmingham, and it has been a relatively relaxed first week, no really serious drinking, which is surprising considering our mutual liking for beer. Friday was the day that Tomas turned up, and was let into my flat courtesy of my father as I couldn’t be home for his arrival, work commitments and all. That night was a quiet night in as I was so physically tired from the day at work. Saturday I had to work yet again, but that wasn’t so much of a problem as there were more people to cover that day, so my day was relatively stress free. Although as soon as I finished work, I get a call from Phil from the Phoenix asking me to do the sound at the Phoenix for that night, which came in handy as I needed an extra cash injection for the weekend. I did pretty good for my first night back at the sound desk, sounded as good as I could get it considering the sound rig that I had to work with, but hopefully the plans for a new PA are in motion now as the current rig really doesn’t cut it in any way shape or form. All this means that I couldn’t really drink as I needed to keep a clear head while at the sound desk, although Tomas enjoyed himself, sat at the bar, while I was fighting a substandard PA to make the bands sound reasonably good. I was thinking of going out for a couple of beers afterwards, but because the night overran by more than half hour I didn’t get out of the Phoenix until past midnight, and at that point I was feeling really tired, so watched a little TV and retired to bed. Now Sunday [which was officially my first day of my holiday] my plans were to get a little shopping in, and watch the Grand Prix; but that plan didn’t quite work out. As for my usual unpredictable life I was called up by Stephen asking if I wanted to go for a drive down to Lands End, which I just couldn’t resist [and of course Tomas got dragged along as well]. But I conned Stephen into taking me shopping first, which was cheaper than getting a Taxi home and meant I didn’t need to walk down to Aldi. About half way down to Lands End, Stephen had a go at trying to kill us all [us, being, Tomas, James, Stephen, and myself] on a roundabout when he wasn’t paying attention, he hasn’t got the hang of doing two things at once in a car yet, but he only passed his test on Wednesday, so I can forgive him; although it was just as well that there wasn’t any sign posts on the side of the road. Onto Monday, it was another relatively relaxing day, we only ventured into town for Tomas to get some cash, of which he paid me £80 for my old S3000 digital camera, which I invested £50 of on seven DVDs; Die Hard 1 & 2, The Day After Tomorrow, Pitch Black, Aliens Versus Predator, I, Robot and Ghost ship, which was a good deal for seven DVDs. The rest of the day was pretty much lounging about watching the above DVDs, although we only managed to get through five of the seven, plus Bad Boys which Tomas has never seen before, which brought us to almost 2am, at which point I was dead on my feet after a long day of doing nothing, it really is hard work, honest!

It’s now Tuesday, so lets see what sort of spontaneous-ness takes us today!
