Plymouth managed a 1 – 1 draw at Loftus Road against our old division 2 nemesis QPR. It’s safe to say that QPR were the better team on the day, but it’s the final score that counts and Plymouth have picked up another valuable point, and away from home which makes it even sweeter! Akos Buzsaky redeemed himself for the own goal at Home Park on Saturday with a wonder goal from 30 yards out to give the Pilgrims a slender 1 – 0 lead. This was obviously not enough as QPR pushed forward, piling the pressure on Argyle until the 66th minute when the referee awarded a dubious penalty to the home side, although he didn’t give a more obvious penalty earlier in the game, inconsistency is the name of the game for referees of late! Kevin Gallen calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right of goal to give the home team their equaliser. QPR pushed hard for all three points, but alas Plymouth stood firm to hold out for a point. I can’t help thinking that we could have come away with all three points if it weren’t for the dodgy penalty given, although on balance the result flattered Plymouth, but we’ll certainly take the point away from Loftus Road. Argyle are slowly climbing the table, we need to keep plugging away and consistently scoring points, there is every possibility that Argyle will finish in a respectable mid table position if we can continue to get decent results, although some work needs to be done on their home game as the Pilgrims really need to win their home games to move up the table to a reasonably safe position in the league. Next game is against third from top Luton, which will be a tough one, but I am convinced that Argyle are growing in confidence under Tony Pulis’ management and can come away with a point or maybe more, come on you GREENS!!!
