My wish came true!

Plymouth Argyle have managed back to back wins, both away and home, maybe this could be an upturn of fortunes for the Pilgrims? Seems that the addition of Lillian Nalis has made a huge difference, Plymouth seem to be a much more confident team, playing much more positive football, and even better news, Ashley Ward could be staying at Home Park for the rest of season should the defender wish to. It seems that manager Tony Pulis is slowly but surely building a decent team, lets hope that he can keep the players, especially players like Buzsaky who has had a lot of interest from Premiership clubs over the past few months, but thus far has stayed loyal to the Pilgrims. The result on Tuesday night wasn’t exactly a massive win, only 1 – 0 but that’s all it takes to grab all three points from the fixture, and you have to say that Plymouth deserved the win, Paul Wotton, Micky Evans and Nick Chadwick all went within inches of scoring, it could have been 4 – 0 if Plymouth took all their chances, but alas it didn’t happen, but 1 – 0 will do me fine. Paul Wotton was hero of the day again, as he scored his third goal in four days, another stylish free kick from 20 yards out after Micky Evans was brought down, seems that Wotton is on fire at the moment, and long may it continue is what I say! All this leaves Plymouth flying relatively high in the Championship at the moment, up to the dizzying heights of 17th place, almost into mid table; if Argyle can win their upcoming home tie at Home Park against Southampton next Tuesday, Argyle could be sitting pretty in 14th position, if other results go our way. But the result of Tuesday night for me was nothing to do with Plymouth Argyle; it was the Arsenal vs. Wigan game to decide who reaches the Carling Cup final, Arsenal may have won the game 2 – 1 but Wigan went through on away goals scoring late in extra time. But you have to say hero of the game was Wigan keeper Mike Pollitt, who pulled off some miraculous saves including an excellent penalty save, well done Wigan I say, they’ve worked hard and deserved everything that have achieved in their first season in the Premiership. Just think that Plymouth Argyle beat Wigan at the JJB Stadium when they were leading the league last season, so there’s hope for Argyle yet; at least things are picking up this season now!

I was going to update the blog on Tuesday night, but went to the pub instead, didn’t feel like staying in really; don’t feel like staying in much now to be honest, but pubs are an expensive habit, so I will try to refrain, although I may not win as I have money in my pocket from my nights work at the Phoenix last night, which incidentally was empty as per usual on a Wednesday, don’t know why Leslie even bothers to open, I don’t think I would bother if I knew that nobody was going to turn up. Anyway, while I was there I noticed that there was a stage monitor (the speaker, not to be confused with a computer monitor) on top of the left stack, apparently on Saturday night, (which I was supposed to be engineering incidentally) the top speaker blew, whether it was because of being driven too hard, or just bad luck, that’s anyone’s guess, I wasn’t there so I couldn’t say. But the net result is that the new speaker on the stack makes the vocals sound so much clearer, it’s a pity that we don’t have another spare monitor to put on the other stack, as the bass bins sound really good, but the top speakers are poor to say the least, guess it won’t really matter in 5 weeks time when the venue changes hands. I am definitely not staying on in any capacity, I think that it’s definitely time to hang up my headphones, it’s been a good couple of years, but all good things have to come to an end at some point; and this as a good a point as any I suppose!

Well that’s enough rambling on for now, didn’t intend to ramble on for as long as this!

Additional: Just found this on The Register; something for the uber-geeks!
