Last Friday was a little bit of bizarre one for me. I went out despite not really feeling up for it at all, but went out because I felt I should do because it was Friday night. I started the night in the Phoenix as my Friday nights usually start, then left the Phoenix early before Wishlist played, to go to JFK’s as everyone else had already left. Upon arriving at JFK’s I found that half my friends didn’t get in, which killed any real interest in staying in JFK’s as it was dead anyway, it was almost midnight and there wasn’t any real atmosphere in there, at least in my opinion! So myself, Chris, Tash, and Martyn went up to meet up with the rest of our crowd in Cuba (the bar, not the country). But I didn’t really like it there, the music is OK, but it’s too packed, there isn’t enough space to hold your pint without your hand getting knocked and losing half its contents. I ended up leaving shortly after 1am, just wasn’t feeling in any sort of mood for drinking, I didn’t even bother stopping for food, I just went straight home and to bed. I really must stop going out when I am feeling tired or generally not up for it, its just a waste of money as I am never going to enjoy myself!
Today has been frustrating to say the least, been building a computer for a friend, and it hasn’t gone well. Everything went well enough until we fired the beast up and nothing happened, but after some front panel connector reassignment (due to me reading the diagram upside down) it fired up, but we couldn’t get the graphics card to output anything to the monitor, no matter what we tried, I even resorted to making an international call to Tomas to see if he could give me some insight! Several hours later and after talking to some ‘genius’ friends of Matt’s we all came up with a blank, so Matt is going to take the base unit to Computerbase to see if they can do some fault finding as I have limited fault finding capability, not having a PCI-E 16x card to swap out to check if it’s the card, mobo or monitor. Hopefully it can be sorted, as it will be a beast of a machine, I want to see how Doom 3 performs on that machine, as it looks shite on my Athlon XP2000. The system being built is as follows, Abit AX8 V2.0, Athlon 64 3700+, Radeon X800 XL 512MB, and 2GB DDR400 (dual channel), so this should be a kick ass system when it finally works!
