Finally got a letter back from the Woolwich building society, and despite what the site stated, they only offered me a Visa Electron debit card, which is about as much use to me as condom machine in the Vatican. Not only that, they want me to send two proofs of address, which would be fine, but they want either a benefit book, full passport, EU national ID card, or full UK driving licence, which I have none of, don’t plan to go abroad any time soon, and I don’t drive (at least not anymore), as I am working I don’t have a benefit book, and every time I have tried to get a national ID card the powers that be say that they aren’t in use in the UK! So for the time being I will have to stay where I am, I am not going through the hassle of changing banks if I don’t get any benefit, specifically a full Visa debit card so I can shop online. I will have to make an appointment to see the Nationwide manager to discuss why they wont give me a debit card, because I cant see any reason why I cant have one, I can only spend my own money, and my finances have been clean since joining the bank, never been overdrawn and have a regular income of over £700 per month. I feel like breaking something, but that wouldn’t achieve anything, I will just go an engineer some loud music down at the Phoenix instead, won’t help but it’ll make me feel better!
