…was surprisingly enjoyable; I started my night in the Newmarket pub with Stuart for a couple of beers. Later I went to JFK’s (or C103 if you prefer) and had a really good time, didn’t drink much, not that I had much choice, I only had £8 on me when I entered JFK’s, although I did get in for free as I am building a cheap PC for the promotions manager there. So I invested my £8 in a jug of Castlemaine, which is a sound investment as it was with my brother and his friends, everyone buys a jug and we all have beer for the night, sorted! Despite not being that drunk, I still got up and danced, and generally made a fool of myself in the name of having a good time. They even played such classics as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘Bat out of Hell’ both tracks that don’t get heard that much in clubs these days, despite being classics, we have DJ Mark Williams to thank for that, who is now co-DJ in JFK’s on Friday night. This is a great improvement over DJ Jason alone, who tends to be very predictable in what he plays and tends not to play anything new or non-mainstream! So all in all, a good night out, good music, good company, and spent only £15 all night, and just for a change I didn’t wake up with a hangover, so I would say it’s a successful night all round! The only downside is that I now have no money until Tuesday night when I get paid from the Phoenix as I miscalculated my available funds, thinking that I was to be paid yesterday, but in reality I don’t get paid until next Friday, so it’s going to be a quiet weekend. Just as well really as Monday evening I will be engineering a charity gig at Voodoo Lounge, Tuesday evening I am engineering at the Phoenix, Wednesday I have a day off work, at least a day off from Derrys, but I will be building that PC for Matt, and in the evening I have to engineer five bands at the Phoenix, so its not really a day off! Then I have three more days of work at Derrys; then I am on hols for two weeks, and only have one gig at the Phoenix during that time, although it will be a sad week as well as the Phoenix closes its doors for (maybe) the final time as a live venue. I don’t see Mr. Dance Academy doing fuck all; he hasn’t shown any interest thus far, I think it’s all about property for him, as that land could be very valuable in the future if the local council’s plans go ahead!
