The time has finally come; the Phoenix has closed its doors to the public for the last time. I have to admit that I didn’t think that I’d be affected by it as much as I have been. The Phoenix team has almost become an extended family to me, which made it so hard to walk away last night. I was in a serious state last night; both in drunkenness and emotionally to the point of tears, I don’t get like that very often, and especially not in front of other people. I really do have to thank the whole Phoenix ‘family’ as the last 3 years has been an amazing rollercoaster ride, and something that I wouldn’t change for the world! I don’t know what else to say to be honest, I am truly lost for words, or at least I can’t put my feelings into words, so I best leave it there! The pictures from this weekend can be found here.
Onto something completely different, computer related shit that I alluded to in my last entry. As outlined previously I have bought some upgrades for my PC. I installed these upgrades, and suddenly Windows became insanely unstable, which required a reinstall, but the problem was that I lent out my Windows disc and never got back, which left me with only one option, installing Linux. I would have kept Linux if there was better support from the major software and games developers, but I had to go back to Windows. The solution was for Tomas to upload his copy of Windows to my webspace, which I downloaded and burnt off to CD, which wasn’t as easy as you’d imagine in Red Hat 8. I had to enlist the help of a friend that knows Linux quite well. I am now back on Windows and it runs like a dream as it doesn’t have all the extra crap that was on the machine before. Games like Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 now run amazingly well, even with all the effects on maximum, so I am very happy with the new configuration, although I would have preferred to not to have to reinstall the system as it takes ages to get the system setup exactly as I like it!
