…It’s GO GO GO! The new Formula One season has kicked off in Bahrain, and it seems that it’s business as usual. Fernando Alonso took the victory away from Michael Schumacher after some slick work from the Renault pit crew; Kimi Raikkonen had another wonder-drive to take the final step on the podium after starting from the back of the grid. The Finn has a suspension failure in the qualifying session pitching him off the track and onto the back row for the race, not that it matters, just shows that McLaren hasn’t lost any pace from last season. Jenson Button brought his Honda home just 0.6 seconds off Raikkonen’s McLaren, so a strong performance from the Englishman, but not quite good enough, and judging by this performance compared to his rivals, a win maybe hard to achieve this season, especially when you consider the pace of the Ferrari, Renault and McLaren, but I’ll have my fingers crossed for Jenson. The other Brit on the grid finished just outside the points 3.2 seconds behind his Red Bull team mate Christian Klien, so not a bad start to the season, if things stay this way, we could be looking at a three-way battle between Alonso, Raikkonen and Schumacher, and I feel that Jenson doesn’t have the car under him to compete for the championship this season, and only see the Brit grabbing podiums when his ‘big 3’ slip up!
Work related stuff has been pretty ordinary really, nothing to mention apart from one thing, which astonished me. Management have decided to stop the staff from drinking orange squash all the sudden, which is petty to say that least. A staff of over 30 people, go through about 6 litres of orange per week, so that costs the company £5 at the most, which isn’t much when you consider the amount of profit the company makes, we are talking over one million pound per annum profit, just for the restaurant alone, and they are quibbling over a few quid. I think the powers that be are trying to alienate the workers as it gets more and more penny pinching by the day, anyway that enough work shit. Other things relating to work is ‘the date that never was’ as Helen pulled out of the drink we had arranged the night before at the last moment, because of an aunties anniversary apparently, although I do tend to think that she was making excuses for whatever reason, as she must have known about the anniversary as the arrangements was only made 24 hours before we were supposed to be going for a drink! A couple of friends of mine have said that she may have been nervous or even be afraid of getting close to me, I just don’t know what’s going on, whether I should keep on trying or just give it up as a lost cause. Is ‘love’ really supposed to be this difficult? because I don’t know what to think about her intentions, I am certainly getting a load of mixed messages from her, guess that I’ll never understand women!
I have been watching Most Haunted on LivingTV over the last week, and I have to say it’s pretty good, very atmospheric, especially if you are watching it alone in the dark. I am not convinced by the authenticity of the show, I am a sceptic of the highest order and tend to think that its all for show, although it looks very convincing with psychic Derek Acorah in a staring role, but non-the-less it’s a good watch; I had always dismissed watching it before!
Time for a quick roundup then, Plymouth lost their game away at Hull, by a narrow scoreline of one goal to nil in favour of the home team, but amazingly Plymouth have still retained their 13th position in the league, although QPR are now breathing down Argyle’s neck, Plymouth are only ahead on goal difference. I went out to JFK’s on Friday night, despite the fact that I know that I shouldn’t have done, money situation and all. Went to work on Saturday still slightly drunk, and the hangover came along in the afternoon, but I was prepared, taking some Anadin to the club with me as I knew that I wasn’t going to be going home before work, as I stayed over at Stephen’s flat as it was closer than my home from the club, although not getting to sleep until nearly 5am didn’t help matters, but what the hell, you only live once right? Finally, I am going to see the mighty Iron Maiden in Cardiff thanks to Tomas and his membership to the Iron Maiden fan club. It’s 9 months away yet, but I can’t help but be excited about it, seeing Maiden live is always special!
