It’s suddenly become very real!

It’s my day off work today, and I usually I laze around in bed until midday, but today was different; I was woken up by unknown voices in the house at 9:15am. Of course I got up to investigate thinking “who the fuck are you and what are you doing in my house” type of thing. Apparently he was Neil who is one of the owners of the house, and he was showing an estate agent around the house without any notification as far as I was concerned. I texted Stephen about it and he texted back that Neil said that he may be around sometime this week, which is great, why didn’t he tell me about this beforehand? It really makes me re-evaluate my position here, I am thinking now that I should just find a place of my own again, I don’t like the uncertainty of what might happen, there is a possibility that the Government may come through with the 25% deposit that Stephen applied for before moving out, but that’s neither here nor there really. I would like to know what’s happening, my fear is that the house will be sold and we will be turfed out within a few days notice. The problem with that is that it’s not as simple as it used to be to get a flat or house, there are loads of procedures to go through and a considerable amount of money to be exchanged, and this takes a week minimum going by previous experience. I really wish that I stayed in the old flat at Clifton Place now, the downstairs neighbours were moaning bitches and the upstairs neighbours were noisier that I could ever be, especially in the middle of the night when I am trying to sleep; but at least it was a stable flat and my destiny was in my own hands, even if I had to pay out a load more for it. Although saying that I haven’t noticed any savings here yet as I am still clearing off debts and final bills from the old flat, this month coming would be the first savings I would be making as my outgoings would only have been about £400 including groceries! If I were to go it alone again, I would have to opt for a bed-sit as I couldn’t afford a flat at this time, it’s not the rent that’s the problem, it’s the deposit and referencing fees, which on a flat worth £325 per month + £325 deposit + £100 referencing fees, that would be £750 outlay in total before I even move in. And that’s assuming that I pass the referencing checks, which I didn’t last time for some reason, which even now is still unknown to me; and if I didn’t pass I would lose the £100 fee!

As I was so rudely awaken this morning I decided to do something productive with my day and go into the Abbey and open a new bank account. Filled out all my details and now my details have been referred to the underwriters, I have been pre-approved apparently, but I won’t be getting my hopes up, I have gotten this far before and still got turned down; RE: the Capital One incident! I am waiting on a phone call from the Abbey now to either confirm or refuse an account; if I do get refused I will need to get the cheque back off them which I gave them to open the account. But I must think positively about it, it will go through, probably only get a VISA Electron card, but that’ll be fine for now; and they say as long as I comply with the rules and regulations of the Abbey, I will be offered a full VISA Delta card within six months, and apparently they will contact me when it’s available on my account! They will even switch over all my direct debits, transfer the little money I have in the Nationwide account and close it down for me. Hopefully I will hear back before Saturday, then I will have the card and pin number before payday next Friday, but I need the details before next Wednesday at the latest, so I can notify the payroll department of my change of bank details. I did give Nationwide a last chance; I went to them before going to the Abbey asking if they would give me a debit card, and the usual answer came back “not at this time, come back in 3 months” – so now they have lost my custom completely over being incredibly petty and not giving me a VISA Delta (they don’t offer an Electron card) even after being with the bank almost two years, so here’s a big FUCK YOU to Nationwide!
