Until the new Championship football season kicks off, and I have to say that I haven’t been this excited about a new season in a long time. Plymouth Argyle have a new manager in the shape of Ian Holloway or Ollie as he is known by the team! He has done more for the team than either Pulis or Williamson and he hasn’t even officially started his first season with the Pilgrims yet! He has signed three good strikers in the shape of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake from Manchester United, Barry Hayles from Millwall and finally hot off the press Ibad Muhamadu from Cercle Bruges in Belgium, and Midfielder David Norris has committed to the club until 2009 as well which is a welcome bonus! Plymouth added another two goals to their pre-season goal tally against Yeovil on Tuesday night with new boy Barry Hayles opening his account before relative old boy Nick Chadwick doubled the lead! Yeovil weren’t exactly push overs, but the Pilgrims were simply too strong for the League One side! I am obviously not expecting miracles this season, I know that it will be tough, but I am definately looking to improve on last years performance, a top 10 finish would be great, but any improvement on 14th would be good. As last season under Pulis Argyle struggled for consistency, and didn’t capitalise on their form to take victories when they should have, ending in way too many draws during the season! But we all know Pulis’ motives now dont we? he was only interested in scouting for new players for Stoke City, as he never officially signed a contract for Argyle we can only assume that he planned this move from the beginning! So onto a new era for Argyle then, the future’s bright, the future’s Holloway, I reckon things will just get better and better from now on. We have a committed manager that has settled in well and has already started building on his current players, strengthening the team, and making the whole team play as a more effective and tighter unit! And the man seems to have a very sound footballing brain; obviously only results will tell, but judging by pre-season form, Argyle can more than hold their own again the Championship competition this season!
