Today I got a letter demanding that I pay a debt that I don’t think I owe, but I am going to pay it, and fight it later, I don’t want to damage my credit rating again, it’s taken far too long to build up again! The debt was from my previous address and for gas charges to a total of £107.05, I could fight it and take it to court, but I will deal with the guilty parties later. But these parties will not be getting away with it, especially a certain letting agency that has been well documented here in the past for being complete idiots! I have sent an Email to the debt collectors to try to work out a payment plan as I don’t have all the funds handy at this time and I refuse to cripple myself financially just to pay off a debt that I don’t reckon I owe. Either they accept it or I will have to go to court to argue my case, but having County Court Judgements against me wouldn’t be helpful to my credit rating, so I obviously want to avoid that! The aforementioned letting agency passed on personal details of my name, and my dad’s address as he went guarantor for me on the flat, and are in blatant violation of the data protection act on three separate counts. Although they don’t seem to be a member of any of the governing bodies for letting/estate agents, so I am not sure how much I can do about it, but I am not happy with their behaviour! If you haven’t read my previous ‘blog entries and were wondering who these companies are; it’s Beresford Ward (the letting agents) and Powergen Retail Ltd, so avoid at all costs if you want a hassle free life!
