I have to say YES they did, they took their chances better than Liverpool, so I have no arguments with the 1 – 0 result at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool didn’t take their chances and were punished, although you have to say that Drogba’s goal was something special, a rocket of a shot on the turn, Jose Reina was left standing on his line as the ball flew past him. I think that both teams played well enough, and was pretty even for much of the match, both teams gave the ball away too easily, hence most of the play being in midfield. Liverpool piled on the pressure in the last 20 minutes after Michael Ballack was sent off, but Chelsea stood firm and absorbed the pressure, with England captain John Terry leading by example. But I am disappointed by Frank Lampard, who again had a very poor game, as did new Chelsea signing Ashley Cole, who constantly over-hit crosses into the box. Liverpool had their chances as well, Dirk Kuyt hit the crossbar mid way through the first half, Steven Gerrard missed a sitter, shooting straight at Petr Cech, as did Peter Crouch late in the game, and Gerrard was denied a penalty mid way through the second half when he was pushed by Frank Lampard in the box. So Liverpool were unlucky to not come away with at least a point, but at this level of football, you need to take the chances when they come!
