Plymouth Argyle have slumped to 15th in the league after their first away defeat at St. Mary’s against Southampton. Plymouth held their own for the most part, but looked very impotent in front of goal, the deadlock was broken shortly after half time when Southampton’s Grzegorz Rasiak capitalised on a rebounded shot to give the home team a narrow lead, Rasiak could have had another goal, but was denied by the woodwork in a rather extended first half due to a Hasney Aljofree injury, adding 13 minutes to the half. Stoke City also lost their home game against Burnley, with one goal being the margin between the teams, Stoke have slumped to 19th in the league, four places below Argyle and the points gap remains at two points. The problem I see is that Argyle lack real attacking players, and draw too many games, although it adds to the points tally, constantly drawing games sees Argyle slowly slip down the rankings, and their home form has been atrocious, Ian Holloway really needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat or Argyle could find themselves in the drop zone, and that’s a very dangerous place to be, although it’s early in the season, so Plymouth can pull it back, but need to start winning games, especially at home!
