Two in a row, surely not?

Plymouth Argyle went to the Ricoh Arena and ended Coventry’s unbeaten home record on Saturday afternoon. It may have been only 0 – 1 but a win is a win, and it was Debutant Cherno Samba that made the difference, getting his head to fellow substitute Hasney Aljofree’s cross into the box. But a mention has to go out to Plymouth keeper Luke McCormick who made a series of acrobatic saves to deny the home team. It seems that Ian Holloway made some inspired signings to improve the team, hopefully these two recent wins will give the Argyle players confidence and go on to win more matches and maybe even chase a play-off place come the end of the season. I don’t want to get too optimistic about Argyles chances as I know that they have a habit of making good starts and falling away as the season progresses, but I am more optimistic this season than I have been for a long time. Argyle have moved up another two positions in the league, currently occupying 7th position, things are certainly looking up. Just a shame that the same can’t be said for Liverpool, going down 2 – 0 at the Reebok Stadium, seems that Peter Crouch couldn’t work his magic like he did midweek in the Champions League. Although you have to say that Liverpool were unlucky with the first Bolton goal with Jose Reina being wrongly penalised for handling outside of his area, but made a goalkeeping error when the ensuing free kick was taken. So Liverpool have slumped to 9th after this defeat, its not a disaster, but it’ll certainly make winning the title this season a little harder, but league leaders Chelsea dropped two points today as well against a resolute Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.

On a sadder note, one of the girls I used to work with in Derrys, Megan was killed in a car crash near Marsh Mills roundabout on the 20th of September. What is so tragic is that she was only 17, her life had only just started, my condolences go out to her family and friends. The boyfriend, 19, who was driving the car was arrested under suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, but was later bailed. I really hope that if it is the case that he was driving like a dick, he gets a very stiff sentence for tragically cutting short the life of Megan!
