Back to the good ol’ days!

I was supposed to be working on the door at Voodoo Lounge tonight, but there has been a last minute change of plans and I find myself engineering the gig instead. But like the start of my engineering career in the Phoenix, I have a sound desk that doesn’t work properly, no outboard, EQ’s, compressors etc, so it will be a challenge to get a good sound on the night. But lets face it it can’t be any worse than the gig on Monday (which I didn’t engineer) which sounded a big mess for impromptu headliners Em Frente, which is a great shame as they are a very good band! I would have picked up my compressors, but Phil has them, and he is working at the Hub tonight, so I can’t swing by and pick them up. Oh well I am just happy to get back behind the desk again even if it is a tiny 8 channel desk, although I am not sure of what equipment they have, Phil seems to think that they have cheap cables and mics, which wont help sound quality, but I guess I can only do the best I can with the equipment I have!

I’m disappointed that Argyle couldn’t break down Burnley at Home Park this afternoon, but I have to get props to Burnley keeper Brian Jensen who consistently denied Plymouth throughout the match, the Dane was only beaten once in the game, but the crossbar came to his rescue much to the dismay of Argyle striker Barry Hayles. It was all one way traffic, the visitors gave as good as they got; giving Luke McCormick plenty to do in the Argyle goal, so with both keepers on top form, it was always going to be a scoreless draw, which Burnley will be the happier of the two teams. Plymouth have slipped another spot in the league, now occupying 7th spot, but still within striking distance of the top spot, a mere 8 points separate the top 8 teams, so it’s a very even season, and anything could happen!
