That’s exactly what Jenson Button did in Sunday’s grand prix in China. When the rain started to fall in the final few laps of the race, Jenson kept his nerve while others around him lost their nerve to capitalise on the other’s reluctance to throw caution to the wind, overtaking Pedro De La Rosa’s McLaren, team mate Rubens Barrichello and BMW’s Nick Heidfeld in the space of 1 1/2 laps in Shanghai, could Jenson be the next rainmeister? But story of the day was Michael Schumacher winning the race despite starting from 6th on the grid, when Fernando Alonso and team mate Giancarlo Fisichella monopolised the front row, followed by the two Honda’s, and Kimi Raikkonen’s McLaren, who fell to the wayside early in the race. Alonso had tyre issues, and had to pit unexpectedly, and Renault team mate, Fisichella simply wasn’t quick enough to keep ahead of Schumacher. It does make you wonder why Renault persist with him especially as Alonso is off to McLaren next season, they would be better with Heikki Kovalainen as team leader and another young driver, but I guess they’ve gone for experience over talent! The net result of today’s race is that Schumacher moved ahead of Alonso in position if not in points as both drivers have amassed 116 points, but Schumacher gets the nod over Alonso because he has won more races this season, Michael has 7 – 6 win rational over Fernando, it’ll certainly make for an exciting finish to the season as its almost certainly going to go down to the wire in Interlagos, Brazil! It’ll be the closest finish to a season for years, and I look forward to it!
I have been reading back on some of my archives on this site, and I didn’t realise just how political this blog can get sometimes, and even more surprising is that I have been blogging for almost three years now, it’ll be three years next Sunday (8th October), which is amazing as I thought I could never write much about my life and other random rantage, although my little trip down memory lane has made me realise a flaw in the coding of this site, see if you can find it? Send your answers on a SAE to PO Box 666!!! ( that’s a joke by the way ;) )
