And I am feeling bloody ill, spent most of the day in bed with severe stomach pains, and no I am not pregnant, at least I bloody well hope not ;) But this isn’t really about Christmas, the idea of Christmas died a long time ago for me, but I am glad that this year is almost over, it’s been a tough one for me, with three family members passing away and the general hell of working at Derrys. The end of the year has been better finally deciding to bite the bullet and pursue my sound engineering dreams which seems to finally be happening thanks to Phil (@Voodoo) and his faith in my abilities. He has been talking to other people about how good I have become as an engineer since leaving the Phoenix despite not actively engineering for nearly 8 months. I am always self critical of my own work and always feel that I could have done better, but many others have said that the sound I have done for their band was brilliant, some even saying it was the best sound they’ve ever had. I am not one to get a big head as I know I am constantly learning new techniques to improve my sound, but it’s nice to hear that people appreciate the work you put in to get their band(s) to sound good on and off stage! So it’s been a year of mixed emotions really, but I have to say a big thanks to my friends for helping me out emotionally and financially especially my house-mate Stephen who has been subbing me while I chased the sound engineering dream!
Sports wise, it’s been a mixed weekend with my home football throwing away a two goal lead to end the match in 2 – 2 draw at Home Park. Argyle looked in control after Barry Hayles scored in the 23rd minute and Lilian Nalis climbed over the West Brom defence to head Argyle into a 2 – 0 lead on the 40th minute. But suddenly former Sunderland and Aston Villa striker Kevin Phillips scored twice in first half injury time to finish the half 2 – 2. With all the calls for Romain Larrieu to be replace Luke McCormick as number one keeper it was a disappointing performance from the Frenchman. It just shows that McCormick was made a scapegoat when it was actually the defence that wasn’t up to standard! Plymouth are really missing the organisational skills of skipper Paul Wotton who is currently out injured with Knee ligament damage after the home win against Hull three weeks ago. Plymouth have held their place of 12th in the league, but have slipped further away from a prized play-off place six points off initial league leaders Cardiff City. My premiership interest Liverpool had a better day on Saturday, beating Watford 2 – 0 at Anfield to keep in touch with Chelsea although Chelsea also won, so the points gap remains static. Watford made it difficult for the Merseyside team in the first half consistently denying Liverpool an opening goal, but the deadlock was broken just after the break with Craig Bellamy sidefooting the ball home from 12 yards out off the cross of Steven Gerrard, the points were sealed in the 88th minute when Xabi Alonso capitalised on a poor clearance to make it 2 – 0 to the home team!
