I can’t keep on dwelling on what could have been with Ali, although I still want it to happen, she doesn’t for whatever reason, so I need to try to move on with my life. Drinking heavily, blowing hundreds of pounds every month and feeling sorry for myself isn’t helping anyone, least of all myself. Therefore I am meeting up with a woman that I met through the Alternation myspace, I sent her a message and suddenly we are meeting for a coffee in town tomorrow. I don’t see her as a romantic prospect, I am just looking for friends at this time and she is looking for the same, someone to talk to, someone to be there. That’s something that I don’t really have at the moment, my friends are too wrapped up in their own lives to really have time for me, it’s almost like I have been left behind. Sure I have friends in the US that I talk to; but that isn’t the same as having someone physically there when times get tough. I want to be able to do everyday normal things, going out for a coffee, chatting, going for walks, going to the beach and all those kind of things. I have been too wrapped up in finding that special person and overlooked friendship, besides getting into another relationship would be counter-productive at this time in my life as I wouldn’t be able to give any romantic interest 100% while I still constantly have Ali in my thoughts.
Formula One, British sensation Lewis Hamilton has taken his second Grand Prix victory at The Brickyard in Indianapolis, US despite being pushed by team mate Fernando Alonso until the second round of stops. The Brit drove another flawless race and kept a cool head under the pressure from Alonso. It was another dominant performance from the McLaren team with Ferrari a distant third and fourth 13 seconds off the McLaren’s. Felipe Massa was again the best Ferrari driver holding off a late charge by Kimi Raikkonen, eventually crossing the finishing line two seconds ahead of the Finn. Not much joy for the other Brits on the starting grid; David Coulthard got taken out by Ralf Schumacher in a first corner incident. Jenson Button finished in a disappointing 12th behind Anthony Davidson in 11th. Honda won’t be happy to see they have been beaten by their effective ‘B’ team Super Aguri. Renault’s Heikki Kovalainen, Toyota’s Jarno Trulli, and Red Bull’s Mark Webber finished in fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively; BMW’s Sebastian Vettel claimed the final point on offer in his first race in a F1 car, but BMW will be disappointed with only a point from the race after recent performances, but that’s the way it goes in F1, put it down to experience and move on, there’s another race in two weeks at Magny-Cours in France, which may possibly be the last ever French Grand Prix to be held at Magny-Cours. Lewis Hamilton now commands a 10 point lead over team mate Fernando Alonso after seven races, yet Hamilton is still denying his title aspirations, which is probably a good thing to keep his feet on the ground. But it’ll be amazing *if* in three weeks time at Silverstone he takes the win at his first attempt at the British Grand Prix, it’s been a long time since us Brits have had a genuine title hope to cheer on, last British champion was Damon Hill some 11 years ago.
In cricket, the fourth test looks like ending in a draw after the first day’s play being completely washed out and losing a couple of hours on day two to bad weather. The West Indies set a first innings total of 287 with Shiv Chanderpaul scoring the majority of those runs with an unbeaten 136, Dwayne Bravo was the next highest scorer with 44 runs. It was a disappointing start to the England innings with Alistair Cook and Michael Vaughan wickets falling for less than 20 runs, then night-watchman Matthew Hoggard and Kevin Pietersen wickets fell for a duck. Andrew Strauss added a useful 77 runs before edging to Ramdim. Paul Collingwood stabilised the ship with a yet another century and as I type this is on 114 not out after Matt Prior’s wicket for for 62, but another useful contribution from the English wicketkeeper. At tea England are currently on 341 for 7 from 89 overs. England will be aiming to bat out the rest of the day to set the West Indies a decent total to attack and hope that the West Indian players do a dominoes act and fall over, but it’s likely to end in a draw as there isn’t enough time left in this test to realistically get a result for either team!
