The situation in this house where I live is getting worse, not impressed with the new people that have moved in to replace Trevor, Jason and Laura. Constant noise all times of the day and night, no one seems to be able to talk at a sensible level or shut doors quietly, not to mention the amount of shit music being played from various rooms. Seems the landlord is letting to students now, which he wasn’t going to do, it’s was described to me as “a quiet professional working house” which couldn’t be further from the truth at this time, drinking all afternoon then drinking into the early hours, there was all sorts of arguments, loud music and more at past 5am. All I want is a quiet life, as I work with loud music several nights each week, I rather not have more noise when I get home from work which is anywhere between midnight and 3am dependant on the night. Just as well I didn’t have a gun last night, I would have probably killed everyone in the house, I could feel my temper raising, I don’t mind people having friends around as long as they keep noise to a minimum. It’s common consideration when you live in a shared house, if you want to party, get yourself those go out to a nightclub, that’s what they are there for, I rarely bring anyone here, in fact the only people that I know that have been in this house is my dad, Darren who helped me move and Ali, that’s it, seems that others in this house have no consideration for others. I was going to make this my long term home, because I hate moving, but I can’t be dealing with this bullshit all the time, it’ll drive me insane or I will explode and do some serious damage to someone, I just know that I won’t be able to keep my temper under control forever, I don’t like who I become when I lose my temper, so I try hard to maintain a calm head!
On Thursday on a rare night off, I actually went to a gig to watch some bands, guess its sort of a busman’s holiday really, but I enjoy live music, much better than listening to DJ’s play pre-recorded music in my opinion. Anyway, I went down to the White Rabbit to see Em Frente, Facing Evolution and Le Chat Noir. I am always astounded by the amount of low end punch Opus sound systems put out into the room, but there always seems to be a gap in the sound in all Opus rigs I have heard, mostly to do with the fact that their are eight 18in drive units and only two relatively small top speakers to handle all the other frequencies. So the bass is totally overpowering the mix as the sub boxes are aren’t capable of producing frequencies much lower than 200 – 300hz at best, which leaves a huge gap in the sound. That aside, I enjoyed the bands I went to see, one of the bands are playing tonight in The Voodoo Lounge, Le Chat Noir; the other two young bands on the night weren’t very good frankly, it just sounded like a big wall of noise with no direction or definition, but apparently they have only been together for 4 weeks. But apparently it could have been worse, I could have gone to the Cooperage relaunch where they had no front of house sound at all, the monitors were working, but nothing from the 20Kw front of house system. Either it’s incompetence by the engineer or the people that set up the system. This is why I arrive early for every gig in Voodoo to check the system, make sure everything works properly as it should do and fix any problems where possible before the bands arrive.
