I managed to get together the money together to pay the rent with the aid of my overdraft only to find out today that my overdraft has been withdrawn. If I knew this was going to happen, I would have never deposited £140 into the account last week and I would have had that money available to pay the rent in cash, now I have a shortfall of £140 in the rent which has to be paid later today, which leaves me up shit creek without a paddle. I have no backup plan, so now I have to hope that I have an understanding landlord or else I could find myself out on the street. I couldn’t believe what I was reading on my online banking account, so I went out to a cash machine in the vain hope that it was a screw up in their online system, but it wasn’t, it showed the same result -£161.43 in the available balance column, which should read £138.57. Of all the times to do it, why does it have to be today, the day that my rent has to be paid. What annoys me more than anything is the fact that when I opened this account I told them I didn’t want an overdraft, but they ignored that request and a couple of days later I get a letter saying that I have a £300 overdraft. I promised myself that I wouldn’t use it unless I desperately needed to; but over time I started dipping into it and soon found that I was maxing out the overdraft every month, so I have effectively been living in my overdraft. If they respected my wishes and didn’t set an overdraft up for me, then I wouldn’t be in this situation, which really fucks me off!
