I don’t understand?

A couple of things that I really don’t understand right now; first thing is Tottenham Hotspur sacking manager Martin Jol after just 10 games this season. Jol has done well for Spurs taking them to the UEFA cup twice in three years, but the Dutchman has been under fire all season after a poor start to the new Premiership campaign. But I feel that these premiership clubs have no idea; sacking managers mid season is counter-productive especially when the fans and players like the manager. The sad fact is that unless you happen to be one of the top four ‘rich’ teams, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool it’s hard going for any manager. I would put money on Jol dragging Tottenham into the top half of the league by the end of the season, but now it’s looking likely that Tottenham will have a caretaker manager in charge for the remainder of the season while they wait for Sevilla coach Juande Ramos to become free at the end of the season. Now I bet that if things don’t improve and Spurs get relegated; you can bet your bottom dollar that Ramos won’t want to manage a championship side. Success is brought about by stability, just look at Arsenal and Manchester United, both teams have had extremely long term managers and the results show. Chelsea have taken a slump after parting company with Jose Mourinho which again proves my point, change isn’t good for success of a football club, it’s very simple, but chairmen are like all business men, they simply have no clue how their business works and make ill advised decisions based on their so called advisor’s! It’s madness I tell you!

And the second thing is McLaren appealing the decision of the stewards in the Brazilian grand prix over the illegally ‘chilled’ fuel temperatures recorded in pitstops during the race. The stewards found in favour of BMW Sauber and Williams after investigating the breach of Article 6.5.5. Ron Dennis has appealed this decision and the world title will be settled in the courtroom instead of on the track where it belongs. If McLaren are successful; it will mean that Lewis Hamilton would move up to 4th in the race results and also mean that the Briton would become world champion in his rookie season. I feel that McLaren should just accept it and look forward to next season after this years trials and tribulations. Lewis Hamilton has gone on record as saying he doesn’t want to win the title in the courtroom; he wants to win his maiden world title on merit; not through legal channels. Yes Williams and BMW did breach the rules, but it was a minor breach so the stewards didn’t see much point in turning the season finale into a farce and I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment! Kimi Raikkonen did well in the second half of the season to close down Hamilton and Alonso; he really doesn’t deserve to lose the title due to a court decision. I have been supportive of McLaren for the most part this season, but I really don’t support the actions of Ron Dennis and McLaren in this situation at all, forget it; move on to fight for the title next season!
