Plymouth Argyle won their away league tie at The Valley beating Charlton 2 – 1 on Tuesday night. Although Charlton were lucky to score at all, their goal was actually an own goal. Luke McCormick tipped Danny Mills’ shot onto the post only to rebound back and go in off the Plymouth stopper’s back. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake met David Norris’ cross to side foot past the Charlton keeper from six yards out with just five minutes on the clock. Barry Hayles restored the lead in the 37th minute with a power shot from 6 yards converting Lee Martin’s pinpoint pass into the box. Plymouth now find themselves in 5th in the league behind West Brom on goal difference; still only one win away from 2nd spot should the teams around us slip up. I don’t know what’s going on but Argyle have suddenly discovered some form winning the last three games on the trot; fancy the play-off’s anyone?!?!
Liverpool didn’t fair so well last night in the champions league. The Reds went down 2 – 1 to Besiktas last night. Sami Hyypia helped the home team to take the lead deflecting Serdar Ozkan’s shot past Pepe Reina in the 13th minute. Bobo doubled the lead for Besiktas with 8 minutes left on the clock slotting the ball under Reina. Steven Gerrard gave Liverpool hope in the 86th minute with a flying header; but sadly it was too little too late for Liverpool. The Reds now find themselves bottom on the table with just one point from 3 games. Liverpool have left themselves with a huge task to qualify for the latter stages of the tournament. The three other English (I use that term lightly) clubs made it through with convincing wins; Arsenal thumping Slavia Prague 7 – 0 at the Emirates. Manchester United beat Dynamo Kiev 4 – 2 away in the Ukraine and Chelski beat Schalke 2 – 0 at Stamford Bridge.
In personal stuff, I have almost given up on Alternation, I have all but decided to call it a day after next week. It’s simply no fun, it’s like a chore; Steve is working at the MDEC; so I am stuck in the DJ box. Numbers have been dwindling for weeks now and I can’t figure out why; we’ll see how the BIG Halloween night goes. If that dies on its ass; then it really is time to call it a day. I’d rather not get to the stage were the old rock night got to with a couple of people coming to the night. Also I have been hearing rumours that my co-DJ has left the night; originating from a certain person that used to sit on the door when it was a paid entry night. I really hope that it’s not true; if he doesn’t want to work with me or work on the night that’s fine, but I expect him to tell me in person; if that is the case I am sorely disappointed!
