Like I predicted earlier; Plymouth Argyle have beaten the league leaders Watford away at Vicarage Road. So that means that Watford are sure to go up to the Premiership this season following Derby County and Wigan Athletic the previous two seasons. Plymouth frustrated the home team for much of the game stifling the Watford attack; The Hornets may have only had three shots on target; but two of those hit the woodwork. Krisztian Timar had scored earlier but the goal was disallowed because the Hungarian defender was adjudged to have fouled Richard Lee on the way to putting the ball in the back of the net. Possession was pretty even although Argyle did have the make better use of their chances and could have won by more than one goal. The Plymouth fans had to wait until the 89th minute to see Norris score the one and only goal of the game. David ‘Chuck’ Norris met Barry Hayles fantastic pass to rocket the ball into the back of the Watford net to claim all three points for the Pilgrims. There’s something weird happening with Plymouth we loose against struggler’s Norwich City 2 – 1 a couple of weeks ago at Carrow Road then can beat the league leaders away at Vicarage Road. So it’s back up to 7th in the league, just one point off a play off spot again and effectively one win away from going 4th with Stoke and Charlton both on 37 points and Argyle sitting on 34 points. Argyle face Crystal Palace away at Selhurst Park, then the following Wednesday host struggling QPR at Home Park, I wonder if we’ll see Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore visiting Home Park? Then it’s a big one for Argyle fans; a visit from another judas of a manager, Tony Pulis’ Stoke City on Boxing Day at Home Park, I may even be there! Can Paul Sturrock’s men give the Argyle faithful a late Christmas present?
Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield this afternoon. I have my doubts about Liverpool’s ability to beat United after Liverpool’s dismal performance at the Madejski Stadium last weekend being beaten 3 – 1. But I still hope that we can give those Mancs a good stuffing tomorrow afternoon, bring them down a peg or two. Liverpool need this win to get themselves back in contention for a possible Premiership title. The Reds need to be snapping at the heels of the leaders to pick up the pieces when one of them slips up. All of the big four are in action tomorrow; Arsenal also host Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium!
Another disappointing day of work was had yesterday. Still no subs installed and it seems that all of our recommendations have been ignored, dodgy promoters not keeping to the guarantees made to the band when they signed the contract to bring the band down from Wales. I didn’t get paid the full amount; I got 20 quid out of 50 owed to me. They are supposedly going to bring in the other 30 quid for me on Wednesday evening; but I am not holding my breath on that. Not to mention channel 17 on the desk and/or stage box playing up and uneven channel levels on the master output; as much a 6db discrepancy. Now you may say that with stereo sound you’d get different levels on left and right outputs and you’d be right. But XLR inputs are all mono; to make stereo you would need two mics and pan one left and one right, which wasn’t at all the case. The problem with channel 17 appeared on Friday night and couldn’t be resolved, but I got away with it, just a shame it broke on the lead vocalist Jonny’s microphone during The Dharma Bums set. I had planned to come in half hour early to test the desk and stage box find the fault but didn’t get a chance as the band were already there. There’s been some weird shit happening recently in Voodoo, subs dying for no reason, weird desk faults and channels intermittently working, not to mention LED PAR cans less than a couple of months old dying; well that’s the Voodoo effect for you!
