Rather disappointingly Argyle only managed a scoreless draw away at Portman Road. Frankly Argyle were comprehensively outplayed but luckily for Argyle Ipswich didn’t take their chances. 28 shots on goal for Ipswich and only 7 for Argyle, but Argyle went closest to actually scoring with Peter Halmosi forcing a reaction save from Ipswich keeper Neil Alexander. The Ipswich stopper foiled Plymouth again half way through the second half denying record signing Steve Maclean from the penalty spot after Dan Harding was adjudged to have handled in the 18 yard box. Plymouth will be happy with a draw as not many teams go to Portman Road and come away with a point, but must be ruing that missed penalty! Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock said in the post match interview “Football is a very strange game and we got a result which we didn’t merit.” also saying “It felt like we had four deaf mutes in our back four and communication problems among our foreigners reared its ugly head again.” Plymouth slipped a further place in league to 12th falling behind Saturday’s opponents Hull City who visit Home Park. I have been hearing rumours today that David Norris has signed for Ipswich Town for 2.2m but there has been no formal announcement on that but it would make sense as he was left out of last nights game. Also rumours of a 3m pound offer for Peter Halmosi has been floated around after his recent performance at Portsmouth in the FA Cup! I really hope that this rumour is unfounded as that would be disastrous for the Pilgrims as he is a keystone of the Argyle midfield!
Tonight is the first anniversary of Alternation; yes it’s been a year already, where does the time disappear to? But those of you that have seen the poster/flyer may have noticed one glaring mistake, if you haven’t; take a look, see if you can figure it out, it’s really obvious, he says having only noticed it today. I have even been out flyering today, something that I haven’t done is ages and to say that I am a little rusty is an understatement. But talking to people it’s looking like a big one, there are at least two birthday parties coming to the night plus loads of randoms. We still don’t know whether the night will continue after tonight as every time I ask anyone among the Voodoo management, no-one seems to have a clue! So this may be the busiest night since the launch party but it may also be the last ever Alternation, but at least we’ll go out on a high. This upturn is mainly due to Mike who has been helping with promotion and flyering over the last four weeks, something that I simply haven’t had the time or motivation to do in recent months. But the night is getting back to what it was intended to be, a rock party atmosphere and not heavy metal constantly throughout the night. I like metal but heavier styles of metal gets very tedious after a while and my will to DJ disappears very quickly, right now I am enjoying DJ’ing once again!
