Guess it couldn’t last forever!

Plymouth Argyle couldn’t extend their four game winning streak at The Hawthorns being beaten 3 – 0 by the home team. The first 44 minutes Plymouth more than held their own against West Brom but then conceded a unnecessary goal on the brink of half time. Argyle failed to clear their lines (in what Paul Sturrock described as a ‘comedy of errors’) to allow Zoltan Gera to poke home from close range to give the home team the lead. After the half time break Plymouth came out determined and weathered an early storm from the home team before starting to pile on the pressure which made the home defence work for their paycheck. But Argyle had the stuffing knocked out of them on the turn of the hour with a fortuitous deflected goal from Ishmael Miller who somehow managed to send the ball looping over Luke McCormick with his back to goal to put the Baggies 2 – 0 up with 30 minutes to play. West Brom killed off the game in the 67th minute when Roman Bednar fired Jonathan Greening’s cross into the bottom right of the Argyle net making it 3 – 0. This defeat means that Argyle drop to 7th in the league behind Ipswich because The Tractor Boys have scored more goals. Plymouth now have two home games against Colchester and Sheffield United on Tuesday and Saturday respectively. Let’s hope that Argyle don’t let their heads drop and come out fighting to win the next two home games. It’s so easy to get carried away (as a fan and a player) when things are going well but this is a tough league where anyone can beat anyone else on any given day. Argyle really shouldn’t feel disappointed as the Baggies had something to prove after being beaten at home by Hull the Saturday before, something that Argyle know something about; which kick-started Plymouth’s run of wins!

Liverpool won their Sunday fixture against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium beating the home team 3 – 1. Bolton keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen gifted Liverpool the lead in the 12th minute fumbling Steve Gerrard’s shot into the back of his own net. Steven Gerrard had a hand in the Liverpool’s second as his shot ricocheted off to post and fell to Ryan Babel who duly unleashed a low drive to defeat Jaaskelainen for the second time in the 60th minute. Fabio Aurelio made it 3 – 0 in the 75th minute with a sublime volley from 20 yards out. Tamir Cohen did get a consolation goal for Bolton four minutes later with a well worked set-piece. Despite this win; Liverpool still remain in 5th after local rivals Everton beat Portsmouth 3 – 1 at Goodison to remain 3 points ahead in 4th. Liverpool are still favourites to claim the final champions league spot, but it’s worrying times for Liverpool fans having Everton ahead of them in the league, it’s unthinkable to finish behind their local rivals. *SHUDDERS*

Now for something topical; Prince Harry has returned from active service in Afghanistan early because his whereabouts was revealed in the press. I watched a program on TV yesterday about his adventures in Afghanistan and apparently he was giving regular interviews while serving in Afghanistan in return for leaving him alone at other times. Now the question arises; why the hell did the government and/or M.O.D. give information out to the press about his activities in the army at all? He just wanted to go the Afghanistan to serve his country like all his fellow soldiers but because of his status he can’t do that! But why not? because the government is like a leaky ship, they clearly can’t keep information confidential, maybe the tactical deployment information was on one of those many military laptops that have vanished without a trace. Anyway, I was quite surprised by how down to Earth Harry is compared to what we expect from the monarchy and I have to say that I like it. It’s refreshing to hear certain members of our royal family being ‘human’ and he just wants to have a normal life without cameras following his every move which is why he loved his 10 weeks away in Afghanistan. But it was his comment about not really liking England very much that made me laugh, as the royal family are a very British institution!

Erin left for her trip to Vegas yesterday afternoon and it’s amazing just how much I have missed her in the 18 hours she’s been away. I have gotten so used to seeing and hearing her every night that it seems really odd that she isn’t there on Skype. Although Erin has called me three times during the night for a quick chat keeping me informed of her activities but that doesn’t stop me from missing her. It really was bad timing as last week I was working through Sunday to Wednesday and this week I am not working at all until Wednesday so I have nothing but time to contemplate how much I am missing her. I have been trying to keep busy with some website design projects but even that is difficult as I can’t concentrate forgetting how to write basic HTML at times and not being able to spell words I spell correctly all the time normally. It shows just how much of an impact she has made on my life when normal daily functions are difficult when I am away from her. Yes I know that I am technically not with her in physical terms but we have made such a connection that being away from each other is tough even if our romance does span an ocean! *HIBERNATES*
