I have just been reading about Chelsea sacking manager Avram Grant and frankly I think that it’s bang out of order. How many managers can claim they finished second in the premiership and runner up in the champions league? I am no Chelsea fan and this just gives me another reason to dislike Roman Abramovich, Peter Kenyon and Chelsea football club. The powers that be at Chelsea said and I quote “We have very high expectations at Chelsea and a couple of second place finishes is just not good enough for us.” So in other words any manager that doesn’t win anything in their first season will be dismissed. A number of managers have been linked with the now vacant managerial position including Guus Hiddink, Frank Rijkaard and [possible] Manchester City refugee Sven-Goran Eriksson. Eriksson was expected to be dismissed from his role as manager of Manchester City at the end of the season which hasn’t materialised yet and has just been on tour with the squad to Thailand. City also claimed the final Uefa cup place via the Premier League fair play table. Will Eriksson go to Chelsea or will he stick with City assuming that he doesn’t get fired by owner Shinawatra. There is one managerial dismissal that I am all in favour of and that’s former Pilgrims manager Ian Holloway after taking Leicester City to their lowest ever position in the football league. For many Argyle fans this is sweet justice, karma will always come back to get you. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side is it Mr. Holloway?
I should have been working tonight but frankly I didn’t fancy working until 5am in the morning, so I passed it onto fellow engineer and friend James. It’s the first Hoodoo @ Voodoo to take place on a Saturday and apparently they are opening until 4:30am, so by the time I pack up and get paid it’ll be 5am and another 10 minutes to get home. And besides it’s Eurovision night and I never miss Eurovision, I’ve watched it every year since I was 12, some 19 years ago… eek! And as it’s Saturday Erin will be home early from work and I’d rather not miss another night with her as I haven’t spent much time with her this week because of work. And I am working tomorrow at Voodoo as well engineering the Stars In Their Eyes night so tonight is even more important for spending some time with Erin!
