Yesterday for some unknown reason I decided to try to power up my old Advent laptop but didn’t expect anything to happen as all previous attempts to power it up failed. I plugged in the power lead and suddenly the charging light came on which it didn’t do before; so I took it one step further and hit the power button. To my astonishment it powered up and started to boot and it has been through several update and reboot cycles and its still going now. At this time I am bypassing the hardware errors on the disk, basically writing sectors as bad so Windows will ignore those sectors which will reduce the disk space but at least it will be error free. That annoying dead (bright red) pixel is still there on the screen but I can live with that. The question now is… do I sell the laptop to help with repayments to my father for this laptop I am writing this on and the airfare to America. Or do I keep it as a DJ’ing laptop, it wouldn’t be such a disaster if a drink was spilt over that laptop as it’s considerably cheaper and expendable to a certain extent! Either way I am happy that it is working once again, maybe things are starting to go right for me for a change, now I need things to go well with Erin and things will be set up nicely for me. It’s just a shame that I had to turn down a full time job as I wouldn’t have been able to visit Erin for my birthday in October as I wouldn’t be able to take holiday until February and then it would have only been a week!
