Liverpool have somehow managed to stay top of the Premiership after their 1 – 1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Robin Van Persie gave the London team the lead in the 24th minute. The Dutchman taking Samir Nasri’s pass on his chest and made a yard of space before unleashing a ferocious shot from just inside the 18 yard box. Robbie Keane scored his third goal for Liverpool in the 42nd minute and what a vital goal it was for the Reds. Keane latched onto a long ball over the top from Daniel Agger to launch a spectacular half volley into the top centre of the net! Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor was sent off for a dubious second bookable offence in the 62nd minute but Liverpool couldn’t make the overlap count. Both Arsenal and Liverpool had chances to take all 3 points but both keepers were equally impressive, stopping everything that was thrown at them! Chelsea’s failure to beat Merseysiders Everton at Goodison Park means that Liverpool remain one point ahead of the London team in the Premiership. Liverpool have been lucky in recent weeks with the teams around them failing to capitalise on the Reds poor results. But Liverpool will need to step up their game if they hope to win the Premiership this season!
Plymouth Argyle lost 2 – 0 away at Oakwell against Barnsley with manager Paul Sturrock putting the blame squarely at the door of the rogue Simon Walton. Walton saw a straight red for violent conduct in the 28th minute (doing a David Beckham) kicking out at Anderson De Silva after he was fouled. The home team used the overlap to good advantage as Plymouth’s structure fell apart in the remainder of the first half allowing Barnsley to take the lead seven minutes before half time. Argyle acquitted themselves better in the second half and had a go at equalising but there wasn’t any real clear cut chances for the Pilgrims. Barnsley killed off any remaining Argyle hopes in the dying moments scoring from the penalty spot after David McNamee brought down Diego Leon in the penalty area. Plymouth remain in 13th in the league because of the teams around us having poor results as well, seven points off a play-off spot. Simon Walton has now been transfer listed by manager Sturrock for his behaviour. Walton has been somewhat of a troublemaker since joining the club earlier this year. I think that Sturrock has done the right thing, the last thing we need is a bad apple upsetting the apple cart!
Now for something addictive and funny as hell! Sock and Awe has become an instant internet phenomenon after the recent attack on George W Bush in Iraq. The game is amazingly addictive, I will never get bored of smacking Bush in the face with a shoe. Even more amazing is that the people that created the flash game sold it for £5,215 on eBay four days later. I wish I had some talent for creating flash games, it seems to be a lucrative business opportunity!
