I know that Tomas (who lives on the ol’ Iceberg) will be thinking, what’s the big deal but for people that live in Southwestern England, snow is a rare thing. I love snow, although I never see any in the southwest so I tend to get quite excited about snow. Who knows maybe I will experience my first ever white Christmas? I’ve been watching the damn movie (White Christmas) every Christmas since I was born, so “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas”… Now for the actual point of this blog entry, I just couldn’t help the announcement of SNOW! I have been looking into fiancé visas and can’t really see the point when I could stay for 3 months under the visa waiver program and still marry Erin. Should we decide to go down the fiancévisa route then there is no guarantee that I will be able to work as I will still need to apply for a work permit which is not even guaranteed to be processed before the date of marriage. The application for a work permit [Employment Authorization Documents (EAD)] cannot be applied for before arriving in the US on a fiancé visa. We thought that a fiancé visa would allow me to automatically seek employment during the validity period of the visa, which isn’t correct it seems. But I have found some useful information about after we get married, I will be a “conditional permanent resident” for the first two years then I will be able to apply to become a permanent resident assuming that we are still living in the US at that point.
Oh and there’s a short video of Conner playing in the galleries, click here to take a look
Liverpool top their champions league group beating PSV Eindhoven 1 – 3 in Holland as Atletico Madrid were held to a scoreless draw in Marseille. Liverpool went behind in the 35th minute when Javier Mascherano failed to clear the ball allowing Danko Lazovic to toe poke home. Ryan Bable equalised for the visitors on the stroke of half time with a headed goal from close range. Liverpool came out in the second half pushing for a second goal and that goal duly came in the 69th minute with a ferocious long range shot from Albert Riera. PSV were denied an equaliser when Dirk Marcellis hit the post before David Ngog’s low drive from just outside the 18 yard box sealed the victory in the 77th minute. Liverpool had already qualified along with Atletico but winning the group will give the Reds extra confidence going into the knockout stages next year. Chelsea have also qualified for the knockout stage tonight, Arsenal and Manchester United have already qualified, tomorrow will decide whether they top the group or finish runner up. So all four English teams will progress into the next round, another all English final maybe?
Things aren’t so good for Plymouth Argyle who slump to their second defeat in a row. The Pilgrims hosted Birmingham City at Home Park and like Saturday were beaten by a solitary goal. Lee Carsley’s shot from outside of the area into the left corner was the nail that condemned Argyle to their third game without a win. Argyle slip to 12th in the Championship, now five points away from a play-off spot. I’m baffled with what’s going on with Plymouth, the word inconsistent springs to mind. What’s annoying is that Plymouth had the majority of the possession in the first half but couldn’t find the target. Birmingham only had five shots on goal and scored one, Plymouth had 14 shots on goal and didn’t find the back of the net once! It seems that Argyle have the perennial problem of not having a striker that can find the target on a regular basis, if at all! This has been the problem for the last three years, or maybe the strikers that our managers have brought in can’t cut it at Championship level! Looks like another year of mid table obscurity again, I hope to be proved wrong, but I’m not holding my breath!
