Has it really been 10 days?

I have been pretty busy over the past week working on some new projects. First of all I have created a website for Buttonwood Tree, the company that my wife works for, you can check out the demo site if the fancy takes you. As a byproduct of creating this site for free [mainly due to boredom], I have the possibility of another 2 – 3 paid web design project, charging $500 per site for the management company. I am also in the process of creating a website to promote myself as a web designer called Alternation Design, I will post the URL at a later date, I don’t want the site to be indexed until it’s complete, but you can see a screenshot of the homepage on the right (click for enlarged view). I am quite excited about the prospect of doing professional web design again. I will be charging $250 for a static 1 – 10 page website, $375 for 11 – 15 pages and $500 for 16 – 20 pages. As some of you may know, in a former life was also a search engine optimisation specialist (yes, that was my official title) so I am also offering optimisation of code for better search engine performance for $25 per page. I don’t know if it will work out but I need to do something to bring in some money until my work permit comes through. Apparently someone has already shown interest in collaborating with me on web design projects. I need to get his Email address from Erin to see what his proposition is. I have also been experimenting with content management solutions and have found something rather special, it’s called Website Baker, it’s really full featured and is simple to use. Most of the other CMS’ I have tested have been too over complicated and confusing, I want something that is flexible yet simple to use and this is by far the best open source CMS I have ever seen online!

Things have gone from bad  to worse for Plymouth Argyle. Sturrock’s side’s woes intensified after losing 0 – 2 to Bristol City at Home Park. With all the record transfer fees exchanged for supposed proven goal scorers this season, why the hell can’t any of them find the back of the net? Are they all donkeys or is it manager Sturrock’s tactics that don’t suit his players? In the last 10 games Argyle have only scored four goals and conceded 11 goals, lost seven games, draw two and only won one game. Argyle have slumped from a high of 5th in the league back in October to 16th, just five points off the relegation zone. Maybe Paul Sturrock is trying to follow his predecessor (Holloway) out of the Championship to a league where his managerial skills are more suited. I am more and more convinced that Sturrock doesn’t have the credentials to make it at Championship level, this league could almost be considered Premier League 2 these days with most of the teams having Premier League experience. Sturrock needs to turn things around pronto if they are to remain a Championship side next season. If Argyle continue with this form, relegation is a very real possibility, that should spell the end of Sturrock’s second spell at Home Park, I don’t believe that he is the inspirational manager that he was before he deserted Argyle for (then) Premiership side Southampton in 2004 only to be fired 6 months later by The Saints.

Is Rafa Benitez’ Liverpool starting to crumble under the pressure as the Reds fall to 3rd in the Premier League after their third straight league draw, Liverpool’s last league win was at Newcastle on the 28th December when they thumped the Toon 1 – 5. Liverpool are level on points with Chelsea (but with an inferior goal difference), who beat Middlesbrough 2 – 0 at Stamford Bridge while Manchester United thumped West Brom 0 – 5 at The Hawthorns to move two points ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea with a game in hand over both of their rivals. It’s another crunch game for Liverpool this weekend against title rival Chelsea at Anfield, the Reds really need to win that game to pull clear of Chelsea and hope that fellow Merseysiders Everton do Liverpool a favour beating Manchester United, but I won’t be holding my breath on that!
