New Years Eve!

So new years eve in Kansas, all in all was an excellent night out, best new years I can remember in fact. We dropped Conner off at Erin’s mother’s at 8pm-ish and headed over to The Shadow which was our chosen destination for the evening but upon arriving we found there was a $20 per person cover charge. Which didn’t go down well with us as we weren’t there to see the band, so spending out $40 before even having a single drink wasn’t really an option. So we ended up at the Port Of Wichita around the corner from where Erin and I live. There was a cover charge there as well but it was a much more reasonable $7.50 per person. There was some covers band playing which was inconsequential really but they were good enough although my analytical sound tech mind couldn’t help analysing the sound a little but I didn’t have too much to be critical about really as it sounded pretty good. The place has a laid back atmosphere, everyone was friendly, at least the people that I spoke with on the night. We listened to the band, played some pool and had a few drinks. Erin did get rather drunken, surprisingly drunk really as we didn’t drink that much, guess Erin is a cheap date! I didn’t feel at all drunk while in the bar but started to feel it when I arrived home. Family life and the lack of alcohol consumption has reduced my tolerance drastically. We got home somehow and I started to feel the effects of the alcohol, Erin was struggling to stand and infact fell on top of me as I tried to help her up, the phrase “the blind leading the blind” springs to mind. In the morning we had to be up reasonably early to pick up Conner, I woke up with a banging headache which I had no time to sleep off so went in search of painkillers. Which I found but what I didn’t realise is that they were also sleeping tablets so for the whole day I have been like a zombie drifting in and out of consciousness. Which leaves me not feeling at all tired at 1am in the morning as I write this while Erin is snoring away beside me. So I will watch Mythbusters until I fall asleep…
