Why do I even bother wasting my time? I am unsure on what criteria I fall; under 8 CFR 274a. 12 to apply for an EAD (Employment Authorization Document) so I called up the USCIS helpline as you would. I talked to a woman (I really need to write down names when calling) on the phone and she informs me that she can’t help me with filling out forms. So what exactly is the point of this phone line? she just directed me to the USCIS website which I already had on my screen. The information in the instructions are more than ambiguous and I’m seriously confused. She advised me to seek the advice of a lawyer which will cost even more money on top of the $1400 that we have to pay out for all the VISA applications. I’m just going to have to make an educated guess and cross my fingers as I know how the bureaucratic mind works, petty bastards are the words that springs to mind! I understand that they want to make the process difficult to dissuade people from trying to enter the country illegally by marriage but does it really have to be this damn difficult to live with the woman I love and work in the US?
