You wait 9 games for a win…

…Then two come along at once. That’s right readers, my first choice team Plymouth Argyle won two games in a row. The Pilgrims beat fellow struggler’s Watford 2 – 1 at Home Park in front of a rather poor crowd at Home Park, less than 10,000 including away support! I don’t blame the supporters that stayed away really because of the diabolical recent form. Ashley Barnes had another storming game, hitting the woodwork twice before Paul Gallagher scored from the spot to give Argyle the lead in the 35th minute. But in the 59th minute a defensive mistake allowed the visitors to equalise. Gallagher scored the winner for Argyle in the 73rd minute with a nice little chip over the keeper. Sturrock’s men are now in 17th position, but still only five points from the drop zone with a tough game against Reading at Home Park on Saturday.

Liverpool also got back to winning ways after Saturday’s humiliation at The Riverside against relegation candidates Middlesbrough. Liverpool comfortably beat Sunderland 2 – 0 at Anfield on Tuesday evening to close the gap to Manchester United to four points. Chelsea also won meaning that Liverpool still remain in third spot on goal difference. Manchester United restored their seven point lead at the top of the Premiership on Wednesday beating Newcastle 1 – 2 at St James Park. So everything remains the same, just with three points added to the top three’s total.
